Postpartum exam surprises? TMI!

I searched the archives for this question and didn't see anything, but sorry if this has already been discussed... Did any of you get a rectal exam during your 6-wk postpartum follow up? I just had my appt this past week and received a surprise digital exam right after the pelvic check, completely unannounced minus the standard "here's some pressure!" the doctors at my practice say before everything (she had said literally the exact same thing a second earlier before the pelvic check)... Needless to say, I was not prepared for that, and to make matters worse, I've been having swelling and pain in that area ever since.

    Some doctors still employ a rectal exam as part of a regular pelvic exam. It can be useful for those with a retroverted uterus or in women who are obese. Hope that gives you some peace of mind.

    subsequent TMI warning.
    I woulda like mine to have checked me over,  I mentioned .. issues and she basically said 'heres some cream bye'.
