Pain in the butt?

I'm 18w4d, and for the past 3 days have been experiencing something I never expected: my little boy is quite literally a pain in my butt. As in, mostly a dull pain but every so often a shooting pain, right through my buttcheeks especially the left one. Most often happens while walking or shifting in my chair. Sometimes crazy painful! I have google diagnosed myself with posterior pelvic pain and will talk to my doctor about it next week. Anyone else experiencing this?

  • It's your sciatic nerve. Sounds very unpleasant. :/ I've never had sciatica, but many people here have been talking about it. Sounds pretty normal. :/

  • I have "butt pain" as well, though mine stems from the loosening of my SI joints. Mostly on my left side. Chiropractor and massage are helping me!
  • I have been experiencing this with my 2nd pregnancy. It's been annoying, but not debilitating. Will have to remind myself to ask my midwife at next apt.

I've felt something very similar too early in 2nd trimester. I got a prenatal massage and it almost magically went away afterwards. Even if you don't get a massage, I would consider doing some leg stretches, maybe with foam roller. At least for me, it seems to have been connected to tight hamstrings and calves.
  • There are a lot of stretches posted online that help with this.  I have it frequently even while not pregnant.  It's been an issue so far during this pregnancy as well.
