Hi ya'll!
I have a breech boy, and he's been breech the whole time, I am now 35 weeks. He will be my 2nd child, my first child was NOT breech, curious to as why this one might be, I've read in a few places it could be because of birth defects and
now I'm completely worried! Help! :-/ thoughts? Experiences?

Re: BREECH at 35 wks.

  • My first was breech and she is 100% ok. she ended up with a cord around her neck that had pretty much anchored her in place it looked like, but she is an amazing, happy, healthy 2 year old and was perfectly fine at birth with apgar scores of 8 and 9.

My sister's 3rd was breech. She also had higher than normal fluid levels. It was her 4th pregnancy (3rd baby born) in 3 years, and she was told she had virtually no stomach muscles left at the end of it. She was just very stretched out for lack of a better description. She never made it past 38 weeks cause they attempted an ECV and she ended up with a torn placenta and emergency c-section. May or may not have turned on his own by the time he was ready. He was perfectly healthy also.

Breech babies happen for all sorts of reasons and you are only 35 weeks. If nothing turned up at your anatomy scan try to stop freaking yourself out. :) I remember doing the same with my first. Your baby very well may just turn on there own as most do.

  • You've still got 5 weeks to go until your due date, anything can happen! Try to stay positive! Maybe ask your midwife or doctor some exercises that may help flip the baby.

My mum gave birth to my brother 41+5 and he came feet first with his hands above his head, poor woman!!

Look up Spinning Babies for some great exercises on getting baby into position :)
  • There's still plenty of time for baby to flip. It can even happen during labor. I totally agree with those suggesting the spinning babies website too!

My first was breech born by c section. Following 2 were VBAC births and now my fourth is breech also! No apparent reason just happens sometimes. Best wishes x
  • My little girl was breach and she turned in labour with a little help from the lovely midwife, only to be back to back. I experienced a long labour and was forced into an epidural (amazing) she was and still is perfectly fine :) born 40 weeks right on time.

Pregnant with baby number 2, boy, currently at 38+3 and yep you guessed it, the whole pregnancy he's been breech but turned last visit to the MW. I purchased one of those birthing balls which is working a treat and has obviously assisted in him moving into the right position ready to meet us.
I highly recommend the birthing ball to shift things and apparently they work wonders for softening the place where you would tear during labour?

Best of luck with your beautiful baby xxx
  • I was breech! And I can promise you I turned out just fine.
