My doc offered me a script for progesterone if I was interested. He said the evidence is inconclusive on its effectiveness to help already healthy babies in utero (~50/50).
DH & I are 35, 2 mc in past year, and we are currently 6w 6d pregnant. Baby is measuring perfectly and has a hb of 105.
What have been yr experiences with progesterone supplements?
I used them for four weeks without any problem then I had to renew my prescription and they gave me generic ones. The generic ones caused me to bleed so I stop them a week early. If you are going to use them don't get the generic.
Did you have low progesterone in your previous pregnancies?
I'm on it now, for a short cervix, but I don't think there's any harm in taking it. If your doctor recommends it, then I'd do it. I haven't had any side effects.
if it were me I would do it. If I was to lose the baby I would always look back and wonder "what if" had I taken the progesterone even if the effects are doubted.
Alright, I filled the script and started taking them tonight. I'm 7 w and yesterday baby was measuring perfectly and had a FHR was 105. Don't know what my hcg or progesterone levels are. I have had 2 prev mc and I'm 35 so I want the boost (if there is one)!
Are you seeing a fertility specialist? I saw a fertility specialist after my loss and every time that they thought I had ovulated (based on blood that they would draw), they'd put me on progesterone then, too. It may just be something that they do for extra support during the first 12 weeks of pregnancy even if your progesterone is normal. I think you did the right thing, though. Sending you sticky baby dust!
