I'm 16 weeks pregnant and have to have a root canal done tomorrow. I am so worried about having it done while pregnant but the pain is so unbearable, there is no other option! Has anyone else had one done during pregnancy?!
Yep had it done around that time last pregnancy. It was honestly awful (the pain not the procedure) but they do give you numbing medicine and some good, pregnancy-friendly pain killers. So the actual procedure won't hurt. Don't worry from a pregnancy-perspective, it'll be ok. It'll suck, but your baby will be fine. And abor was easier than the pain you're probably having right now (sorry this isn't making it better but it's only temporary). I've had 5 root canals in my life and they all suck.
I had two within a month and was up and about the next day. No pain or swelling at all. My dentist is awesome and she has this new technology for root canals making everything so much easier! I'm not sure if laughing gas is pregnancy safe, I'd research that. If it is safe I'd definitely use it!
Yes!! Just recently I had a root canal done (about three weeks ago). Try to relax, it is very safe to get dental work done while pregnant. Just be sure to let the dentist know. My procedure went very well and I was crazy nervous (I hate the dentist). But all went well and I have a temporary crown in place over the tooth that had the root canal down. I have no more pain at all anymore and I get my permanent crown in a few weeks. Good luck! It'll feel much better when it's done.
