Constantly starving!

FTM here... I'm breastfeeding, and I know you need extra calories and all, but I never expected to be STARVING all the time! I am sooo hungry! I can't seem to ever get rid of my growling stomach. Anyone else experience this? I am eating myself out of house and home!

  • Same! After feeding LO, I am ravenous for food and drink. Breastfeeding helped me lose 40 lbs after giving birth, but I've plateaued now at that last 10 lbs, I'm assuming bc I'm eating so much. I try to make good choices when it comes to food, but when caring for a baby, anything that can be cooked within a minute in the microwave is ideal. LOL

  • I'm totally starving, too! My LO is gaining a little over an ounce a day, so I guess it's going somewhere!
  • A lot of people mistake hunger for thirst, your tummy will rumble when you need water too...I drink a pint of water while feeding & then if I'm still hungry after say 20 mins when she's finished feeding then I'll eat something as that's when you're actually hungry & not just thirsty.
It's so easy to pick at things when you only have one hand (like a box of chocs LOL) but just keep healthy snacks to hand? Rice cakes, bananas, nuts, grapes etc. xx
  • I agree with making sure you are drinking enough water. I also make sure I have a decent amount of protein throughout the day. This helps curb my hunger. I usually have a smoothie with fruit and a scoop of quest protein powder in the morning and this definitely helps me. Before anyone steps on a soap box about the protein powder my ob and pediatrician are fine with it. I used to have a cookies and cream quest protein bar during the day when I was pregnant instead of a candy bar and I was told that was fine.

Now I'm curious, why would people have a problem with protein powder? It makes perfect sense to me. I wish I could find one that doesn't make me gag, but no luck so far.
  • I east quest bars daily esp while at work and have a protein smoothie for breakfast? I thought it was a good thing??
  • My mil gave me a hard time because it has whey protein in it but that woman has something to say about everything I do with my son. I have heard mixed things about it and people have either been pro or super against it.

@lmk115 have you tried the quest protein? It's really good! You can also try a sample of each flavor. It's at gnc.
