Rash

So after I gave birth about 5ish days after my stomach developed a pretty harsh rash... It's gotten so bad my skin is extremely raw because I can't help but itch! I called my OB last Thursday and they said to try hydrocortisone which should work almost immediately and if it didn't work to call back Monday. Well when Friday came along and I still was yet getting no relief I called my primary doctor. She perscribed a ointment that had a steroid in it and she stated that if it didn't work within the hour to call back, which I did because it of course didn't work... She recommended seeing a dermatologist, which I WOULD if it didn't take months to see one and I'm desperate for relief. I called my OB Monday and they saw me yesterday. & he told me to buy mederma to get rid of my stretch marks which should get rid of this rash but he told me the itching would stop "rather quickly" and surprise surprise... IT HASNT. I'm driving myself insane here and I'm curious if any of you ladies have experienced this, if so what are you doing to get relief?? Also I am using calamine as well to try and stop this itch. Honestly I'm just headed to booking an appointment with a dermatologist but I just don't want to wait months for this to stop itching. :( I'd post a pic of my stomach To show what I'm dealing with, but it's pretty gross lol.

Re: Rash

  • I did a quick google search and it looks like PUPPS can develop up to 2 weeks postpartum. Maybe that's it?

I asked my OB if it was pupps and he said no it's just the way my skin is reacting to my stretch marks? But I did search pupps though and saw some of the things people used though thanks!

  • When I was about 20 weeks pregnant, I developed a rash. Turns out that it was virus that decided to present itself as a rash

Really? How did you end up figuring that out? And what did you end up doing if you don't mind me asking

I saw a dermatologist, my OB, and my allergist and they were all perplexed and couldn't pinpoint it. I thought it might have been scarlet fever, so I saw my family practitioner. My strep test came back negative but my OB said it was common for a virus to go into a rash. I did have minor cold like symptoms a few days before. There was nothing that I could do except wait it out.
  • If you call a dermatologist and explain that you just had a baby they may try to squeeze you in. I had a rash esrly in the pregnancy and was so frustrated with the wait. Then I spoke to one who was amazing and squeezed me in bc I was pregnant.
