I would think just keeping hydrated and making sure you're not overheated would be fine....it wouldn't hurt the baby might just make you feel like crap
I'm on vacation now and did fine out on the boat and at the beach but had to keep putting my feet in the water to stay cool
The doctor told me to drink lots of water, apply and reapply sunscreen, and don't get overheated. (For the same reasons we aren't suppose to do saunas) enjoy yourself
enjoy! i live 5 mins from the beach and all my pregnant friends gather there on a daily basis. they use a lot of SS and drink a ton of water. i would join them if i didn't work, and if i didnt have spotting for the past 6 weeks...

I'm the lady at the beach with the umbrella clipped to my chair. I'm super fair so it lets me take a little break from the direct sun when I need it. Ain't nobody got time to try and plant one of those huge Beach umbrellas into the sand.
It's fine. As long as you don't live by me and the closest "beach" is on Lake Erie... Aka Lake E.coli. I would kill to go to a beach and put my toes in the sand.
I had a similar question a couple of weeks ago. I had asked my dr. if it would be o.k. to spend a whole day out on our boat. The forecast predicted temperatures of 102. She told me that as long as you stay hydrated and pay attention to your body you will be just fine. If you start sweating profusely, get in the water or find a place to cool down. If you develop a headache, your body is more than likely reacting to the heat, so leave.
I grew up in the ocean and intend to enjoy it while pregnant but would suggest making sure the water quality is rated excellent. Sometimes, specifically after rains water at certain types of beachs can be polluted and dangerous. For example, Malibu after a rain is rated poor water quality, so I will definitely NOT be going in that at any point during my pregnancy.
Glad you went! I'm just wrapping up an entire week in Destin with my husband's family. At 10 wks 3 days, we haven't even told them yet, which initially worried me but it's been fine! As everyone said, stay hydrated and pay attention to your body. I didn't even think to ask my doc before I went, although I did ask her about running in the heat, with the concern of it raising my body temp too much. She said your body will tell you what's too much (re: heat) so just listen! Stay hydrated and stop if you feel anything unusual. This week at the beach I did notice I had to stay extra hydrated and stand up slower than normal (one bout of dizziness taught me that one pretty quickly), plus I'd come in mid-day to cool off completely, snack, and sometimes nap. But I still played in the waves, read my novel in the sun, and even worked out... And the in-laws are none the wiser to our little secret:) enjoy your summer ladies!
