I had an epi with DS which was great because I was in labor for 12 hours and pushed close to 2. Any relief was welcome. I also had one with DD but progressed so quickly that by the time they put it in I was in so much pain. They immediately checked me and had me start pushing which took all of 2 minutes. I could still feel my legs. In hindsight, I just wish I wouldn't have gotten it because having to sit still while the baby was transitioning was excruciating.
I'm just thinking, should I even bother this time? I know every labor is different but being my third baby it will likely go fast again. Any mommas out there who had labors with and without an epi to compare? I have a high pain threshold. If things seem to be taking longer I may still opt for it. But right now I'm thinking I won't even bother. Plus, I've heard recovery is easier and though I didn't have bad side effects from an epi I know they are possible.
I know I still have lots of time to decide but just curious about other's experiences.

I am trying for a Vbac this time around and, if I get the opportunity, I'm going to take the epidural. Everyone's experience is different, but they checked me 3 times without an epidural and one time with the epidural and the times they checked me without the epidural were the most excruciatingly painful moments in my life. I feel like I'd be terrible at actually pushing a baby through there without numbing drugs. Hopefully they offer a walking epidural.
