Breastfeeding moms, share your diet please

I've been indulging a little too much, but still losing weight so it's been hard to get away from all the bad foods. I know I need to get back on the right track, but since I've changed up my diet, I'm constantly hungry. I'd like to start working out again too, but I'm hesitant because the hunger will increase. I have a pretty good supply, 8-10 oz from a 20 minute double pumping session. Not sure if that has any impact on how many calories are being burned.

So, please share what your typical daily diet is like, if you're tracking calories, if you're working out, and how much water you're drinking.

  • I have a 20 oz blender bottle that I make sure to drink every time I'm nursing. That's the easiest way to ensure I get fluids. Lots of proteins (peanut butter, turkey, cheese sticks), oatmeal in the morning or a protein shake. Fruit for snacks in between. My problem is I forget about eating! I just did some stretching yesterday about 20 minutes and baby and I went for a 3 mile walk round trip to get groceries today. Woot!

  • I had mcds today partly because I am craving carbs (and not any good kinds) and partly because I wanted a hot meal. Having 2, I never eat a hot meal at home it seems. So the drive thru was all too tempting today.

But I've been doing shakeology once a day and getting my water in has been a challenge but I'm working on it. I can get 5 oz after a full feed so I'm doing okay.

I'm reading about fattening my milk and it seems to suggest avacados, fish, other things high in omega 3s.
  • I've been losing weight as well, but slowly, so I joined Weight Watchers last weekend at 6 weeks PP. I did the same thing after DD and it worked well for me. I an adjustment from eating whatever I want as much as I want, but in a positive way. I'm paying more attention to the quality of food im consuming and aiming for a healthy balance. It's a point system not a counting calories thing, but most (all?) fruits and veggies are zero points. I still eat dessert and greasy food, just more limited than before. I gained 40 lbs with this pregnancy and as of last weekend was down about 20, so 20 to go. I'm guessing it'll take 2-3 months.

Today I had cereal and coffee for breakfast, black bean and cheese taquitos for lunch, peppermint tea with honey this afternoon, and it's going to be a tuna salad sandwich and carrot sticks for dinner. I'll probably have a glass of wine and popcorn after DD goes to bed.

I'm not thinking about anything in terms of losing weight - just eating enough to make sure I'm not decreasing my supply and to simply have enough energy to make it through the day.

In general, I really suck at making time to actually eat, so I'm eating a lot of smaller snacks/meals throughout the day and try to get a lot of protein and fiber and am especially trying to eat more meat to get my iron intake up.

A typical day might be something like toast or English muffin with peanut butter, string cheese, a Vitamuffin, Total or Basic Four cereal with milk, chicken nuggets, a sandwich, hummus with carrots or cucumbers, some kind of chocolate, and then dinner is often breakfast (egg, turkey sausage and toast).

For water, I'm having a hard time drinking as much as I did pre-pregnancy, but most days, I drink 75-100 ounces.

For 6 weeks i've been eating a very limited diet because i was worried about my LO getting gas, now at 7 weeks i'm slowly adding more variety, my main meal is always oven baked chicken, i try to have a salad and an orange or 2 everyday but im not actively trying to lose weight since i'm naturally losing some, but maybe i should since i gained 22 kilos during my pregnancy!!

I drink 64oz of water, a tall glass of milk, 4 cups of veggies (cooked or not), 3 cups of fruit, 3 cups of protein, and I try to keep the carbs down to a cup or less but.....i get pretty hungry without them while breastfeeding. I indulge whenever I feel like it since I don't often want to, but I do avoid buying things that tempt me like ice cream and flaming hot cheetos. My husband on the other hand brings home loads of temptations >.< Also if I'm still feeling hungry I'll eat more protein and/or veggies. I was stuck on a 7lbs loss for 3 weeks and then realized I was indulging too much...so turned my focus to portion control and eating til satisfied rather than full. Lost a total of 9 pounds at 7w pp. Not working out, not feeling hungry. I did cheat for two days to control my appetite. Drank caffeine and smoked cigarettes. Back to normal now though. Just 15lbs left to lose!
