No AC and newborn? Help!!!

We live in SC and its very hot and humid this summer. We have no AC but keep fans going throughout the day. We have 4 weeks left before due date. Will our baby be ok?

Re: No AC and newborn? Help!!!

  • Yes. Baby will be fine. Just don't over dress baby. Reconsider if socks, cap, mittens, or even pants are necessary.

I'm in Texas and our electric bill can get out of control if we run our AC all day everyday. When DS1 was born, I had him in just a diaper most days. He was three months old by the time summer hit but even as a newborn he was in just a diaper.

Just dress baby like you would dress yourself if you want clothes on him/her. They get used to your home's climate pretty quickly.

ETA: obviously baby can get too warm or too cold but with fans and proper dress, y'all should all be fine.

I don't know how you do it. I'm in south florida and without the air running constantly I think I'd be a crying mess. Babies survive all over the world in huts and homes without a/c but probably won't ever need to be in anything warmer than a onesie (even/especially for sleep)
  • Thank yall so much! (:
  • Idk how I do it either!!! I wanna cry most of the time but instead I just get cranky lol (:
  • I'm in south Florida. When our a.c. went out we invested in a portable a.c.. 300$ and we can leave our central a.c. up pretty high and run that. It was an amazing investment. And it runs off of an outlet so it doesn't cost much.
