What are some baby items that are must have for winter babies?
When do stores start putting out winter clothes for babies?
As a FTM this has been on my mind while I look around Target and find super cute stuff, I am slow to buy anything in NB or 0-3 months because when my baby is in that size it will be cold. I live in Texas so we don't see much snow but it gets pretty cold.
Any STMs have anything you must have for a November/winter baby?
Re: Winter babies
I loved outfits like these for my son. The newborn and 0-3 month sizes usually have the built in feet and you can layer with a long sleeve onesie underneath.
Like with any newborn, cover their head and feet (socks will do) and two to three layers of regular clothing and a blanket should do for your neck of the woods.
Also for everyone who may read this puffy & heavy jackets are a big no-no in car seats. It restricts the straps from getting a proper snug fit making it unsafe.
Pretty much the same; just might need a thicker blanket.
I did have one of those car seat cuddle bag things, but I haven't needed it with every baby. Winter was mild enough with my firstborn that we used a footed sleeper or a long-sleeved onesie with pants and a very light sweater/jacket and a hat under a receiving blanket and a fleece blanket for her first winter. (She was a Sept baby, so she was not quite 3 months old when winter arrived.) DS's first winter was much harsher, so I used the cuddle bag whenever it was really cold and/or windy. (It seemed to be one or the other every time we went out!) He stayed nice and cozy with that, and didn't seem to need any extra layers.
P.S. I live in Canada in case anyone was wondering.
My daughter was born in January, I had lots of sleeper sacks, hats and socks. Always made sure to keep the heat on in the house and when going out during the day I always covered her carseat with a blanket until we got into the car.
None of us were thinking about that during August when we were buying all these adorable outfits and onesies that were obviously for summer! Whoops!
It is tough to find winter things this time of year but sometimes you can find some great things at consignment stores since most people aren't thinking about cold weather right now.
For cold weather, fleece sleep sacks/swaddlers and the footed fleece one piece zip ups. DS was born in October and lived in those one pieces all winter. And I think it may of been assumed but an infant car seat instead of going straight to the convertable.
I consider amazon prime a must have now, to avoid those "omg I forgot" trips to the store. Or if you just don't have time to go to the store
