Cosleeper products

Has anybody purchased a co-sleeper bed that goes inside your bed? We have a bassinet that LO always sleeps in but I've bought her into my bed a fee times to settle her and have fallen asleep. Just wondering it it's worth buying one so I can settle her if she's upset but with her being 100% safe

Re: Cosleeper products

  • Curious about the answers. My LO often sleeps with us (vs his Moses basket) but we don't use anything special for when he does.

  • I just went and purchased a "my little bed" for $70aud. Looks fantastic for now and for when we go to asia at 7 weeks old.

Please don't risk co sleeping with no protection. It's not worth it. The small amount of money you spend will protect your LO.

Also, I know this goes without saying, but I feel like I need to say it anyway. When using a co-sleeper, please make sure you follow the instructions to the absolute letter. In the UK we had a sad case here only a few weeks ago which made the national news where there was a loss because the mum didn't follow the instructions (she had one side only zipped down half way and left the baby unattended). My friend uses a co-sleeper and loves it so hope it works for you!

    ETA I mean bedside co-sleeper.
  • I have a bed side co sleeper and it's great! I don't have room for one that goes in your bed and this even extends my bed a bit.

I have the summer infant cosleeper that goes in bed... It only works with a King and barely at that! I thought it would be great but have found she actually prefers the bassinet! Much easier since DS really like to weasel his way into our bed.

@virginiaunicorn11 I actually really like the whole idea of co-sleeping and have read tons of pro-co sleeping articles.... It seems that our culture (American) terrifies us about doing it while it works perfectly in other parts of the world.... Just another reason For even less sleep!
  • @mishmardhiono I appreciate you may have a different opinion on cosleeping than I do, but I don't appreciate the fear mongering or insinuation my parenting is a "risk with no protection." there are countless decisions on here that I find abhorrent but it's not my place to lecture people. The news story you posted is sensational and accounts for none of the research that I've reviewed on the topic. I'm glad you have an item that makes you feel comfortable with your own decision. My decision is not about money, and to say I resent that insinuation from you would be a gross understatement.

I'm sorry tht it came across that way, I really have passed no judgement across and wouldn't. We do live in a fear mongering society and I didn't realise how dangerous it was for me as the way I was accidentally co sleeping with my daughter was. I never intended to co sleep and I still don't really want to it was just to deal with my fatigue and managing that whilst settling a baby that I have ended up co sleeping and needig this product that I never wanted.

If you are consciously co sleeping as a full time thing I'm sure you've done a lot more research than I have on safe techniques, i don't know a single technique except for this thing to have her in my bed without accidentally suffocating her. I just didn't want something terrible to happen to your LO.
  • I actually do co sleep without anything extra. We bought the First Years co sleeper bed but LO won't sleep in it. So it acts as a barrier for her and she sleeps beside me so we can side lie and dream feed at night. I'm overly conscious of her presence though and wake often. But it works for us.
  • I bedshare too. Had researched and feel like I am doing it safely. Love the extra time with LO. I feel I'll be more nervous about it once he is moving around but bed is on the floor already. People I talked to were right it just comes naturally.
  • We bed share in our house. We have a bassinet that butts against our bed but to be honest I never really used it much with my son who is now 3 1/2. I am a very light sleeper so I was always aware of him in our bed as I still am. I know a lot of people may bash because we slept as a family in one bed with no cosleeper but to be honest in most countries it's pretty common. You have to worry more about the pillows and blankets than you do about your body unless you are a heavy sleeper.
  • I am really relieved to hear fellow bed sharers chime in. Thank you, ladies. It's nice not to feel crazy or like a bad mom. (Though I know that wasn't intended to happen. I just hardly need any reason to second guess whether I'm doing the best for baby!)

I have a First Years Co sleeper as well. Used it for DS1 and this LO. However, for both sons it didn't last very long because the baby would end up in the bed next to me. I feel like the baby and I end up getting better sleep that way since I breastfeed.

I just want to add that bed sharing is safe as long as there are no pillows or blankets in the way to suffocate the baby. I did some research as well and read up on what Dr. Sears wrote on co sleeping/ bed sharing. It was comforting information.
  • I'm really interested in bed sharing but I don't know how to sleep without pillows or blankets that would interfere with baby. I sleep with the blanket up to my ears and obviously pillows.

I love the halo swivel sleeper!! I can see my little one right through the mesh sides and she is right next to me. The bed swivels so you can get in and out of bed during the night and the swivel is so smooth it never wakes her!
