Need Some Advice - A Little Lengthy

Hi ladies. I have responded to a few discussions but this is my first post. I searched for similar questions but could not find quite what I am looking for advice with. I am a FTM and had my anatomy scan today. The baby is healthy!! However, the ultrasound tech said she "thinks" it's a girl. I thought the doctor would confirm the sex, but all she said was "well just go with what the tech thinks." They also said I will not have anymore ultrasounds unless I have problems. I should also mention that the baby would not cooperate today, so the pictures were not great. My question is, would you go with what the tech thinks or would you have an elective ultrasound done?

Elective ultrasound. Maybe the baby wasn't in the right position at the time of the ultrasound to confirm the gender.

I would want to know and might go to an elective ultrasound to find out for sure however baby may not be cooperative again and you might have to wait until birth to know.

Sounds like the tech was not sure, unless you want to join team green I would go for the elective ultrasound.

As other posters have said, unless you want to join team green I would do an elective ultrasound.

You can go 10 times and baby may not want to cooperate.
It is recommended by the FDA to only have sonograms when medically necessary.

If it's important to you to know, go ahead & get an elective ultrasound. I found out through genetic testing, but then at a 16-week ultrasound, the tech said she could see "very clearly" that it is "obviously a girl" & pointed out to me how she knew. There was no "I think" about it! She also said the baby was in a great position to tell.

Most places do them in 3D and 4D so you will see it all in depth.. I say as another poster said.. Unless you want to join team green I would do the elective ultrasound..

Um there is no radiation with ultrasound. The image is produced using sound waves and echoes. Another ultrasound would not hurt the baby.

My bad. It's recommended by the FDA to limit the amount of ultrasounds due to the possibility that the high frequency for an extended period of time can destroy tissue.

One more elective ultrasound is not going to hurt anything at all.

I'm going in for my 5th ultrasound on Thursday. None of them elective, all of them wanted by my OB and MFM doctors since I'm considered high-risk.

Thanks again ladies. I see an elective ultrasound in my future. It will only be the 3rd one, so I don't see any harm. Plus, it will help calm my OCD, and I can begin decorating and planning!
