Difficult Siblings

Hello Everyone! I hope you are all doing well. Anyone experiencing a difficult sibling? We have a sister who has always been rude, but the rudeness (and selfishness) has increased since I got into a serious relationship, and now with baby on the way. I live with my husband-to-be, and two sisters. We are moving into a big, two-level apartment with 5 big bedrooms (3 up, 2 down) and she has insisted on being upstairs with us and wants to take over the other 2 rooms upstairs knowing very well we were turning the one next to us into a nursery. She says she wants to use it for storage..... Um, there is a lot of storage space & an extra huge room downstairs. She has been stressing me throughout the pregnancy, and she is only paying a quarter of the living expenses. The family knows how difficult she has always been (with everyone), but this is too much. My other sister is in disbelief. I'm getting over it, and sticking to our original plan (proud b/c I always yield to what others want), but just needed to vent. Thinking healthy& beautiful baby thoughts!

Re: Difficult Siblings

  • Maybe don't live with her then? Seems like asking for drama and more situations like this ! I bet if my sis and I lived together we would fight too about random things.

  • I would have a house vote, and tell her to move downstairs to the extra room. And then take over the upstairs.

If she refuses, when your screaming newborn is here, I'd pace the hall outside her room all night.

    She'll move on her own.

I know.. We've decided that is the last lease we are signing with her. I've enjoyed living with my siblings, but I guess it's time.

Someone said the same thing! Re: pacing. :-).
  • You have a fiancé and a baby on the way it might be more comfortable with the other sisters being on the bottom floor. Providing a little separation between the families. Taking a vote would be a great idea and to further add is she going to be helping with the baby while she resides on the same floor with the baby.
