Taking FMLA for prenatal appointments

I have leave for my prenatal appointments. But can they check to see if I went to the doctor on these certain days?

Re: Taking FMLA for prenatal appointments

  • I doubt it but I wouldn't use it unless I were actually going to a prenatal appointment. If you need to use it for other reasons, schedule an appointment early in the morning so you have the rest of the day to do what you need

  • If you are using FMLA time intermittently, your employer has the right to ask for medical documentation to ensure the reason you were off is related to your FMLA request. Just make sure if you are taking time off it is directly related or submit additional medical documentation. Always remember that while using FMLA intermittently your employer has the right to request updated physician information every 30 day also.

This is absolutely true. Don't inappropriately use it.
  • I totally agree. Use your time for your appointments. If you have extra time and can do other things fine, but seriously, don't abuse benefits given.

It's just like a Dr excuse for a sick day.
