I haven't been making any at home but if I am out and about I will treat myself to a tall Starbucks vanilla latte (I've only done it twice this pregnancy). My bigger struggle is with soda. I have limited it to 2 cans a day (which still ends up being less than 100 mg of caffeine) and try really hard to keep up with my water intake but it's become a struggle because of heartburn.
I used to drink coffee EVERY morning. I'll still have a cup now and then but I don't really enjoy it as much as I used to. Early on the morning sickness made me not even want it and now it just doesn't taste as good.
I voted none, because you didn't have a speshul snowflake option. I don't really drink coffee on the regular, but I drink both green and black tea daily. Usually a cup of green in the morning and then a large black iced tea during the day.
I always loved my coffee, until I got pregnant then coffee and tea made me nauseous. But lately I'm able to drink tea, so I usually have 1-2 tea daily (: !
I'm still drinking coffee daily, usually never more than 16 oz. I'll usually do half regular half decaf. I figure there are worse things I could do while pregnant than indulge in coffee.
I drink a 16 oz iced coffee every day. It's part of my little morning routine that I enjoy, going through my emails and drinking my iced coffee. I hardly ever drink soda, and occasionally I'll have some chocolate. That's the extent of my caffeine intake. It's never had much of an effect on me at all, I just like the taste. I spoke to the doctor about it and she said it's fine. She's pretty liberal in terms of what I can/can't eat, drink, do, etc. She just mentioned that it might cause the baby to move more, and if it gets to a point where the movement is uncomfortable for me, I might want to cut back. But it won't be harmful to the baby.
I LOVED coffee, I had at least 2 cups a day. Mmmm morning soy lattes or Americanos. Delish. As soon as I got pregnant, it started to taste different. Now, I cant even smell it. Baby girl is NOT having it.
I was a coffee fiend pre-pregnancy... I mean a pot a day kind of gal... and then baby boy happened and he said no. Lately though I've been able to do the nasty sweet coffee, you know the mocha, the carmel, etc. So I have definable been indulging in a very large cup a day... half-caf or if it's super big then 3/4 decaf though, don't worry.
I said one cup a day, and by one cup a day I mean the large size cup on my keurig. On occasion I don't have one but I would say 6 days a week I do. I drank less in the first trimester than I do now. Love my coffee

I am the same way! My baby boy has made the smell of coffee make me nauseous. I miss coffee.
I went from hardcore coffee drinker to sick off the smell of it at 2 weeks. That and a complete aversion to alcohol and the smell of onions was what tipped me off that something in my body was not the same. Within the past 2 weeks to a month (I'm 24.5) I've been able to slowly start again. Because I love it, and waking up at 5:15 is hard. So I make myself a baby French press every morning. Black is a little much, so I mix it with whole milk, which I would have considered sacrilege before.
@BrooklynBroussard is right. It's totally fine. I love my husband's input and we make decisions together, but I'm just trying to envision the outcome of him prohibiting me in regard to a choice about my body especially if it wasn't science based. It certainly wouldn't end well for him... Hahahaha.
PREACH! @jefinley1 and @BrooklynBroussard I can't imagine DH telling me not to have something I was dying for. (Also, the outcome wouldn't be very pretty)
I was a 3+ cup drinker pre-pregnancy, then I hated the smell of it until about a month ago. I'm slowly reintroducing it into my diet with a cup or two a few times a week. I never drink soda and rarely have tea so it's really my only caffeine source. However, I've gotten on a pregnancy driven kick of having a large cup with 1/2 ice coffee 1/2 chocolate milk. OMGeeeee. So good.
I drink a cup a day.... I started with half coffee half water after the first trimester but now I'm up to a full cup of steaming black coffee ...... I don't drink pop at all
It needs to be a cold day for me to drink regular coffee. (SO glad I'm not pregnant during winter!!) However, if I'm out and about and happen to be somewhere with an iced coffee option, I'll take a large!
Pre-pregnancy I averaged about 5-6 cups a day but cut down to an 8 oz cup when I found out. I tried to quit but the headaches were excruciating. Also, if my husband ever got in the way of me and my eight ounces this would be our first and last child...he would no longer have the parts to reproduce. Too harsh? I just can't tell anymore.
@BrooklynBroussard I am just the opposite. I LOVE iced coffee!! I stop at dunkin donuts because it's on my way to work to get an iced coffee. If I make coffee at home and make it into an iced coffee it's just not the same. And I only drink hot coffee in the winter. Or at work if it's freezing.
I love iced coffee when it's hot out. A small at dunkin is perfection. I had a large a couple weeks ago and was up all night with weird dreams. It's so crazy to be sensitive to it when i used to drink red Bull 2-3 times a day. Now that seems crazy and I'm not sure how i stayed hydrated.
I voted no simply because I've never been a coffee drinker so I don't drink it during pregnancy. The taste is just blah to me..sorry coffee lovers! I've tried all sorts of foo foo drinks to help get used to the taste and I can't get myself to like it. However, I do love a chai tea latte
I was a huge coffee drinker. 3 cups avg a day. When I found out I was pregnant my husband switched my coffee for decaf. Ahhh!!! I did have a cup for the first time this pregnancy yesterday (hard few days with barley any sleep) and I got to say, I felt normal for the first time in a while. Lol. I'll be 24 weeks on Saturday so it's been a while. Don't know how often I'll need it but I will enjoy it when I can. ;;)
I used to drink 1-2 cups of coffee every day! It was my morning routine to start my day! The first trimester I tried decaf a couple times but the taste and smell I couldn't stand. But since the second trimester I have had an iced latte or iced chai tea latte on occasion! I usually get a small or medium which still only has about 100mg of caffeine or less.

I'm with u on being pregnant in summer !! I feel like time is flying. Where I live in NY we are snowed in and there is nothing to do in winter. I drink Tim hortons everyday .. Averaging about 2 cups a day.
I love coffee. I have my allowed amount of caffeine every day. I gave up daily cigarettes and venti starbucks iced coffee so dammit I deserve one grande a day.

Yes. This is me! I tried to but the withdrawal was excruciating. I also got depressed. How weird.
I still have it too and have probably been creeping up the amount because of bad sleep recently. I also can't figure out how much I'm having! Anyone know how much caffeine is in a one-cup bialetti? It's a stovetop espresso maker, I get about 4 oz from it and it's a halfway between coffee and traditional espresso, I'd say. I mix it with another 4 oz of milk or so.
Usually in the afternoon I'll have another cappuccino or a diet coke. The internet is no help
I really really REALLY want to have coffee right now. I wanna cry. But DH strictly prohibited me from having some coffee, decaf or not.
It would be a cold day in hell before my H would "prohibit " me from eating or drinking anything I wanted. Thankfully, he's not a total moronic douchecanoe and he trusts me to make decisions regarding the health of our children.
I use to drink two cups a day but now only drink it on the weekends and it's decaf at that. I try not to drink any caffeine. I do though just buy those small cans of real sugar pepsi and have one on occassion. And it's nice that Dunkin has decaf iced coffees you can get.
My DH is the opposite! He thinks the rules that you cannot eat this or drink that are silly. He's always trying to get me to have a glass of wine or something!
I hate seeing this thread because it makes me want another cup of coffee! I try to only open it when I'm due for another coffee I have a half-caff most days, but this afternoon might be a regular iced coffee. We'll see if I can sneak a nap in!!
I haven't personally done research but my mother in law did and asked if I was having green tea, apparently we're not supposed to while pregnant because it sucks up all your follic acid. Worth looking into
I drink a mug of half-caff in the morning (so like 50mg I think?) and then if need be, I get an iced latte from Dunkin in the afternoons (like b/w 70 and 90mg?) so still under 200...they are only $1 all summer its so hard to resist! My dr said to stay under 200mg/day as a rule of thumb...knowing that every now and then you may go over and its ok. I'm used to it by now
