Hard belly

Alright, so last night my belly got really really hard and my DH and I both noticed my belly was sticking out more than it had been earlier. I also have not really felt much movement at all. It is kind of concerning me, and yes I will call my doctor tomorrow, plus I have an appt tuesday...but I was just wondering if anybody else has had this happen to them? My last appt she was head down and I'm wondering if she changed position (which may be why my belly looks and feels different?) I am 30w2d...I feel I may be freaking out over nothing, what are your thoughts on this? And I have felt some movement, just not a lot like normal. Oh, and I have been on my feet all day doing things around the house...sanding the walls I taped, painting, moving stuff around and I definitely feel it in my belly down low...is it possible to overwork myself and harm the baby?

Re: Hard belly

  • Sounds like Braxton hicks. Mention to your dr and how long it stays hard. Also they will ask if any sharp pains w it.

  • Your baby might be moving to the head down position. I'm no expert, but my belly gets really a hard several times a day too so it sounds normal to me. Call your doctor to double check though.

Sounds like Braxton hicks , that happens to me all the time and I'm 33 weeks and been happening for months before hand. my doctor doesn't seem concerned because it's normal, but as other PP's said call your doctor if its concerning you so much . We aren't doctors . If you have to think about calling your doctor then you should do so .
  • Thanks everybody!! I will definitely call tomorrow morning!
  • I don't think doing all that work will harm the baby. Drink some water and rest.

Braxton hicks! You probably don't need to call but will most likely feel better if you do!
  • Sounds like Braxton Hicks. I've been getting them since 13 weeks this pregnancy and get a good 4-5 an hour for several hours most evenings (and 2-3 most every other hour throughout the day. My doctor only has me call if there are more than 6 an hour since I get so many of them. I think normally they have you call if more than 4 an hour. I had them similarly with my daughter and made it to her due date with zero dilation (c-section at that point cause she is footling breech). Mention it to your doctor (mine still asks every appt), but try not to worry about it - sounds normal.
  • I think it's probably either Braxton Hicks or it could have to do with your baby's position.
  • I've had a hard belly for about 3 months now lol. Not a bad thing! But in my case, my child is the next karate kid! Lol, but I haven't gained much weight. Just 14 pounds, so my Dr said that's the reason mine is hard. I know I know, it sounds strange, but my kid is fine so I'm rolling with it!

SAME. Hard bellies are so weird! Haha she just doesn't have much room to go anywhere!
