Whats up with the no sleep?

I should have known I was pregnant. I found out we were pregnant at 4w3d this week, but for about a few days prior I was waking up about three times per night. Not necessarily to go to the bathroom or anything, but just waking up. Anyone else have this as a symptom. I might add I also wake up starving! Lol. Good luck to everyone, glad to be in this group.

Re: Whats up with the no sleep?

  • I am 7 week 4 days and still not sleeping. It's either crazy dreams or just can't fall asleep. Hope it gets better for you!

  • @jennpar21 Glad I am not alone, and I guess baby is just prepping us for the no sleep in the future. I hope you are able to get some good naps in! Hoping it also gets better and a H&H 9 months to you :)
  • With my son I felt like I slept all the time and had no trouble sleeping this isn't that way at all but everything I read says hormones causing insomnia is totally normal
  • Annoyingly, i've been waking up at 4:30 or 5 am for the last week straight. And by waking up, I mean wide awake, start the day kind of awake. The only thing I've found that helps me go back to sleep, was moving to a different, cooler, room. I guess on the plus side, I get to witness all of the pretty sunrises .

Yep! Either wake up between 3 and 5 either have to pee and im starving or i wake up just because. Or i can't fall asleep in the beginning of the night. I havent been able to nap during the day so falling asleep at night is easier. The dreams are so odd and vivid. Usually can't remember them as the day goes on though. Glad I'm not the only one!
  • I've spent the last several days with little sleep also. 4w4d.
  • I've been sleeping terribly!

Me too. I keep waking up several times at night and have trouble falling back to sleep. =/
  • Yep me too! I thought I was too hot, and then I thought I had to pee, but no--it was my body saying "welcome to pregnancy, you're going to be tired forever! "
  • Yes! Ugh. I have extreme night sweats!
  • Yes! I have major trouble falling asleep at night and DS wakes up at 6:00 every morning, leaving me with 5-6 hours of sleep. But I have no troubles with napping during the day though. Weird.

  • Me too. But try taking half a unisom with a b6 before bed. It really helps!
  • I am so glad there are other people with me here. Glad I am not the only one :) Wishing everyone good nights sleep.
  • I have been sleeping poorly as well which is very unusual for me. After several days of sleepless nights I picked up some melatonin (3mg) at the store and now am sleeping soundly!
  • Yes! It is taking me forever to fall asleep (talking at least 3-4 hours of just laying there). Then when I finally do fall asleep I wake up after an hour or two of sleep. My husband gets up for work at 5 every morning and of course I can't fall back asleep after that. So frustrating.

  • @CharlestonJ - Ooh... That's a good idea... I might have to steal that one from you

  • Yup no sleep here really either. I usually wake up about 4am, and can't fall back asleep. I remember this last time I was pregnant and it did finally go away.

I can't sleep. I wake up about 6 times a night to pee. And I have crazy crazy dreams!! Not sure how my brain comes up with these stories!

  • So I had to go off my amitriptiline quite quickly and it messed with my pain and sleep pattern quite a lot.  Crazy dreams and constant waking up, not tired when I should be, exhausted when I shouldn't be.  So last night I went back to using an app that I haven't for a while but it produces sounds and a guided meditation and you can set the time for a nap or to play for when you go to bed. (There is some whole science about how it syncs your brainwaves into the sleep patter but I wont bore you)  BEST SLEEP YET.  Its free on and called Pzizz.... if your DH isn't into it I highly suggest a pillow speaker.  I used to sleep with one headphone in but was always tangling and breaking them but I have had one of these for a year and am about to replace it for the first time.  Its a $3 investment for a good nights sleep... how could it be bad!

I was on amitriptyline too for migraines. And I think it's attributed to me not being able to sleep
  • I have been waking up feeling like a furnace!! It happens throughout the day too. I wake up a lot during the night tossing and turning. It is horrible!! Glad I am not alone but I hope everyone starts feeling better!! 8weeks1day
