Nap time

My LO is almost 3 months old and She will fall asleep very easy if you are holding to take naps but when you lay her down she wakes back up. I work 5 days a week but when I'm home with her for naps I try to lay her down to sleep. How do I get her to take her naps without being held? When I put her to bed I just lay her down and she goes to sleep on her own

Re: Nap time

  • What's the difference between naptime and bedtime? Too noisy? Too bright? Maybe invest in light blocking curtains and a noise machine?

  • I'm not sure. It's about the same amount of noise at bedtime and maybe it's too bright but idk. She can fall asleep but no matter how long she's been asleep she wakes up when she's laid down
  • Do you put her down while she's drowsy but still awake? That's what a lot of the sleep experts recommend. At first it can be a little hard , she may cry a little. But try putting her down before she is over tired and while she is still awake but drowsy.
  • I'll try that but I have to get my MIL to do it too and she thinks she has to hold her all the time!
  • I'm having a similar issue. She will go to sleep fine for her naps, but will only sleep for 20-30 minutes, unless I'm holding her, then she'll sleep much longer. However, at night she goes right to sleep and will sleep a 6-8 hour stretch, nurse, and sleep a few more hours, so I'm not too concerned about the naps. Just hoping they'll get longer as she gets older and enjoying the snuggles while I can!
  • I want mine to get use to taking naps without being held because she can't be held all the time for naps
  • My LO is doing the same thing, but I NEED her to take a nap at some point during the day so I can take a nap (I work nights). I haven't tried putting her down while she is drowsy, but I'll definitely give it a try this week. Hopefully it'll catch on! I'm glad you asked this question @chelsco13, and thanks for your answer @adelems :)
