RLP, SPD, pelvic girdle pain...wtf is this?

Ok, so, for the past two-three weeks I've had this weird pain in the upper right quadrant of my pelvis/groin area.  It would range from being a sharp stabby pain, to a pinchy pain, to just straight up a burning sensation.  At first I thought maybe it was because I hadn't lady-groomed in a while and maybe the hair was pulling/pinching/irritating since my belly was getting bigger and I am a bigger girl so I figured things are starting to rub together.  Anyway, I got a wax.

Since getting waxed, I still have the pain.  There is literally nothing there to indicate a skin irritation.  I've tried creams, lotions, baby powder to keep the area clean and dry and trying to not chafe but the pain still comes and goes.  Sometimes it is so SHARP that it literally takes my breath away.  Other times, I'll just be standing or sitting somewhere and it'll just burn.  I do notice it happens often when I'm sitting for a long time or getting up from a seated position.

I did some googling because I'm not seeing my doctor until the 30th and I just thought I'd throw it out here to see if anyone has had experience with these pains and if it is pelvic girdle pain/SPD?  I think it is all a part of growing pains of being pregnant so I'm not super concerned but it is super annoying and if it's a cyst or something underneath the skin, I'd like to try and get it treated.  Thoughts welcome!

Oh, I have had pelvic girdle pain since week 16! My fertility doctor and OB GYN both said it was expanding ligaments and that I'm having twins. It ranges from sharps pains to feeling like someone kicked me in crotch...and I walk like it! Supposedly many people experience it to a certain degree. It totally sucks but I like to pretend it means my delivery will be cake since I'll be all stretched out! ;) When I can squeeze it in, prenatal yoga definitely helps!

  • I have pelvic pain. It started out feeling like a pulled inner thigh muscle then standing hurt. Now I only have mild pain when I roll over in bed or put pants on. But I have been seeing a chiropractor and she thinks my pelvis is off balanced. She has provided me some relief too. I was also getting really painful stomach cramps for two days (I couldn't sit up on my own) and the Chiro thinks it was related to my pelvis as well.
  • Definitely not SPD. I have it (did with my first, too) and it's much lower and achy then what you are describing. SPD feels like it's between your legs and almost more like bone pain. Sound like yours might be ligament pains/growing pains. Maybe a belly support belt might help?

  • Sounds like round ligament pain. I bought a belly band with my first and it saved me. I've been wearing it this time around too and it helps with the pain you are describing so much.
  • Thanks everyone.  It's just a really sharp/burning pain.  Last night getting out of bed I doubled over in pain from it.  Maybe a support belt would help?  It's just weird it's in one spot on my groin.

And it's terrible, especially at night when you try to roll over, or if you sit too long !!
