"Nesting" ?

I'm plagued with the laziness right now instead of nesting? Maybe I just don't have the nesting in me? I have so much to do, yet, I'd rather go to the pool or watch tv all day! :D Luckily, I'm pretty laid back because otherwise I'd probably be freaking out about how much there's left to do to prep for baby, with only 6 weeks to go! Anyone else stuck in a non-nesting mode, or is it just me?!

  • It comes in waves. But i am chill this time around. With ds i was way prepared then the night before i my water broke i went into crazy kitchen cleaning mode, scrubed ever surface, cleaned out the fride and cupbords washed the floor with a deck scrub brush- crazy! All this to say the urge may strike!!!
  • I never really got it with DS. This time it comes in waves; however as a STM, I remember just how much doesn't need to be done before baby is here. Our nursery is far from done, but I don't care...she will be in a pack'n'play in our room for awhile anyway. I haven't washed her clothes yet....but I will...eventually. Haven't pulled anything up from the basement yet....oh well. We did make sure our carseat has not expired since we would have needed a new one if it was, but other than that, I will get to it eventually. Most after she is here.

I never had the nesting feeling with my first 2 kids. I wonder if it could be related to me never going into labor?? With this kid I am climbing the walls to get things done but I cant because our house is for sale. 10 more days and we are taking it down then I am breaking out all the baby boxes and ordering all the things!!! And painting. I have 2 rooms to paint before baby comes because I know it will be 6 months before I will get to it other wise with 3 kids under 4.

  • Same here. Only we are moving to a new house in 2 weeks so there isn't much I can do. Not sure that I'd actually do it though, I need another nap.
  • I am so lazy! I was telling my Mom how I have done nothing and she said "the baby doesn't care, they need only the necessities." I do have the crib, bassinet, clothes washed, and diapers all set. So Netflix on this lazy day it is!
  • Super lazy here. Not worried though. The "nest bug" didn't hit me until around 37 weeks last time. Just enough time... :)

Nursery is painted, crib is built, nightstand is built, and pottery barn is finally delivering the dresser/changing table Monday. Maybe that will start the fire under me, but probably not. :D

I've been super lazy too even though I've had some urges. I didn't do anything for a long time due to the house being for sale but it's been almost 3 months and we haven't had a single showing (I hate small towns). We haven't had our shower yet and we haven't been able to afford to buy much yet, so all I've got currently is used furniture that I've been slowly working on painting and some clothes MIL has handed down to us. I finally got around to organizing those the other day. Today we're gonna hopefully pick out some curtains. It's not much but it's something!

Oh yeah, one day I cleaned the kitchen and I found myself scrubbing the front/face of the dishwasher, including the little buttons and the dial... I had to stop and think "what the hell am I doing?!" lol!
  • Absolutely. No. Nesting. I have 6 weeks left, too. Everyone is joking that my husband is nesting and I'm...probably not going to. Crossing my fingers that it kicks in a few weeks before.
  • Last night I scrubbed my whole flat and went around with a hand brush and swept the floor of every room and mopped it with a cloth and bucket. At 1 am I realised how crazy I looked to my partner and watched orange is the new black lol
  • I nested so bad last night.. Up until 1:30 am. And I'm not even in my own home! I'm at my dads house, and last night I did dishes I swept, mopped, cleaned the dining room, living room. Straightened up baby shower stuff. Yeah I think it is safe to say I went a bit crazy :p they knew it was nesting so they let me be.
  • I can't really get away with nesting since I'm on bed rest. I really want to start projects and wash baby clothes and whatnot, but my SO makes sure I stay in bed all day. What are other mamas on bed rest going to do about nesting urges? I feel so guilty delegating tasks :(

I'm not a fan of sharing personal info over the internet, but your post makes me very tempted to give you my address just in case the urge strikes again! **jealous of your dad**
  • I've definitely noticed that the house being messy and things not being finished is really bugging me....but the motivation is still lacking!  Once I get started on cleaning or a project I got all out which is great, but I'm finding it difficult to even get started.  I've had a busy few weeks though, so maybe with some more free time I'll get my butt in gear.  @Miz_Liz we also had to check out carseat for expiration...and crap it was expired so we had to buy a new one.  At least we got that done right??

Bummer! At least you checked early though since the seat is one of the few things you DO need.
  • I have the nesting desire but not the energy to actually do anything about it. I'm driving myself crazy sitting on the couch thinking about everything that needs to get done (not all baby related) but try to remind myself that my body is telling me to slow down and relax.
  • The past couple weeks I have been cleaning/organizing like a mad woman!! I have already made 2 big trips to goodwill to drop off unwanted stuff!! I am trying to decorate and organize my house. It actually feels really good. I mud/taped a bunch of walls that were never done completely after we put the trim up, sanded the walls and did touch up painting. Plus I painted the guest room a new color. I painted the nursery the day after we found out the sex haha. I have washed all the clothes that we have and put away according to size. I bought the dresser, bassinet, baby tub, some clothes, diaper bag, a few packs of diapers, the wall decor for the nursery and curtains...I am definitely hurting today though lol! My baby shower is in 3 weeks, so I probably won't be doing much more baby stuff until after the shower. But, I really didn't think I would be "nesting" this early and I'm sure you eventually will. Everybody is at their own pace, plus I really don't work much so I have a lot of free time.
  • I'm manic for shopping for all the little things at the moment but not manic for all the packing and organising I SHOULD be doing as we are moving in a month. I just sit on the couch and make lists.. Nothing is actually getting done though. Haha. At the moment I really want to buy my nappy bag so I can pack it 17,000 times. No desire to whatsoever to organise the house though..

I really hope this nesting phase never ends! I've never been a very organized person, I let the dishes and laundry pile up usually, but now a fork in the sink will send me into a cleaning frenzy! The feeling of having everything in the house organized and clean is like no other. I loveee this. :D
  • I think of nesting often and wonder if I will get the urge. I think the nesting bug and the burst of energy that everyone promised wandered off somewhere. Hopefully they will come around- in the meantime I will take a nap. :-)
  • True nesting will just happen. It looks different for everyone. With my dd, I felt so lazy and then one day I had to clean all the baseboards in the house. I got half way done when I got lazy and quit. That was the equivalent to my nesting. This time I put the pack n play up, cleaned all the clothes and I feel prepared. It will either happen or it won't but it doesn't mean you won't go into labor. Our bodies know what we need more, and maybe for you it's rest.
  • I got a splinter in my finger yesterday while cleaning the baseboards :(
  • Had a mini spurt of nesting today when pottery barn delivered baby's changing table/dresser. I was so excited to put it together with my husband, but it came already assembled! I cleaned it since it was filthy, washed the changing pad cover, mattress cover and sheets, and unboxed some of the larger items for her nursery! But, now I'm being my usual self and vegging!
