I've had 2 miscarriages and when I got pregnant with my daughter, I was finally diagnosed with it. I was put on Folic acid and Aspirin. Because I have it, I'm considered high-risk.
No real reason to this post other than just to see who else has it.
I have MTHFR and Prothrombin Gene Variant. This is my 1st pregnancy, we had a tough time getting pregnant though. I had a blood clot about 11 years ago and was on Coumadin. Since we started trying to get pregnant 2.5 years ago my doc switched me to Lovenox and I have to take it until delivery. I'm also considered high-risk. Was there anything different with your pregnancy or delivery that you had to do before that you could share?

I'm trying to remember if I did anything different? I don't think I did... I did have loads of ultrasounds. 2 years later and I'm still finding them laying around, lol. So far at 6 weeks and 2 days I've had 2 ultrasounds and going to have a 3rd on July 1st.
I have MTHFR (heterozygous) and I had a blood clot years ago before kids. My doctor told me since I only have one copy of the gene that I don't need to do anything differently than someone without MTHFR. I also have PAI 4G/5G..... Not sure exactly what that is, other than it increases my chances of blood clots.
I have MTHFR (homozygous). I had a mc in March that my dr thinks was connected. I'm on Neevo DHA prenatal and aspirin now. I got pregnant again after just two months when it took us 8 to conceive last time with no medicine. I already have one amazing daughter that is 2 1/2 and now I'm waiting for my 6 week ultrasound to check everything out.
WTF are you on folic acid if you can't process it?!!
MTHFR has to do with your ability to methylate compounds to make them bioavailable which is why it can affect lots of things...folic acid to folate is one of these things...
You need to switch to a source of folate (should be methyl folate etc)... I also have just done a ridiculous amount of research on prenatals and will be posting it ASAP but the one I like was Super Nutrition Simply One, if not that Thorne Prenatals and Emerald Labs are pretty good. Will type this up to get out to peeps soon! If your prenatal you have is folic acid you can also just top up with methyl folate like this: https://www.amazon.com/Folate-800-Metafolin-Solgar-Tabs/dp/B001LR2RVQ/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1435070418&sr=8-5&keywords=methyl+folate
All B vitamins are water soluble so unless you have a kidney problem you will just pee out the excess so there is no need to worry about it...
EDIT: Should add this is my field so I know what I am talking about... also MTHFR positive which we found out after a year of folic acid supplements like a good girl still left me with clinically low levels

Yes people with MTHFR can't process the extra folic acid and we need a specific type of folate we can process, especially if homozygous. Check it out on amazon
