Pelvic Pain Anyone

Hi everyone :) FTM here!! I'm 27 weeks pregnant and I'm having the most horrible pelvic and pubic bone pain ever. It's mainly on my left side. It started around 9 weeks and has since gotten worse. It hurts to move around in bed. It hurts to just move. The pain has gotten to me lately and is bringing me down. I can't walk too much or it just aggravates the pain. I look forward to bed so I can be off my feet. I want to enjoy the last part of my pregnancy but I hurt all the time :( I've done some research and the best I've come up with is pelvic girdle pain and pubic symphysis. My doctor keeps saying it's normal. But I don't feel like I should be in such agonizing pain. Does anyone have any feedback or experience with this type of pain? I do use a back support belt sometimes and it helps a little (better than nothing). Thank you :) I hope all you mamas are having a good weekend :)

Re: Pelvic Pain Anyone

  • For the past few days I've had really bad stomach cramps and lower back ache and even though doctors at hospital said everything is okay they don't know what's causing my cramps. It's horrible I can't get comfy even in bed and so I hardly sleep so I'm fed up and emotional it's just not nice at all

  • i saw physio this week for the same thing ans they gave me really good exercises for this. cant u be referred? tips such as swivelling round to get out of the car rather than stretching ur legs apart and taking stairs one at a time too..also tips on how to get out of bed etc xx

The only "cure" is giving birth since hormones are the main culprit. But there are exercises you can do to make it more bearable. Chiropractic care is something I highly recommend for pregnant moms. Just check that they're certified and licensed to treat pregnancy women specifically.

  • I agree with @emzrankin. I went through 2 months of physio at the beginning of this pregnancy. It's definitely not something you have to live with. They can provide relief. It's just important to be an active participant in the process and not slack off once the sessions are over.
They also suggested the methods for getting out the car and bed, being mindful of your posture (an active spine keeps your girdle locked), daily kegels. I've also incorporated daily squats into my routine which has helped me maintain a fairly pain-free pregnancy since completing physio.
  • Thank you all for your responses! I'm sorry some of you are in pain. It's not fun at all :( I am going to call my doctor Monday and see what I can do. I can't live with this pain for another 12 plus weeks. Big hugs to you all!!
  • Yes I just started experiencing this yesterday and trying to keep up with my two year old is not so fun while it hurts to walk. I just read about symphisis pubic dysfunction and it sounds like that's what it is which is disappointing because it says it can stick around after baby comes:( I just hope it doesn't affect delivery. Hopefully it's not and every day thing.
  • @beckygoetz93 I feel your pain. It's so much work to do the smallest things now. I am terrified this pain will never go away but every one says it will. Hang in there! :)
  • When I was pg with DD, my pelvis actually shifted and the bones would grind against one another. I ended up doing both physio and message therapy for the last 2 months of that pregnancy. It corrected itself once I gave birth but it was excruciating during that time (and I was still working as nurse, don't know how, but I did it). It's normal to have pressure and maybe some soreness but it shouldn't be excruciating.
    Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker
  • I woke up yesterday to this! 27 weeks today and it's pretty painful! I work 12 hour shifts. 3 in a row at a hospital and am constantly on my feet so I don't know how I am going to make it the next 3 months!
  • I was excruciating pain some days ago and I was told at my doctor's visit that it is normal. I literally cried cuz it was so painful even laying down, and it hard to walk and get out of bed. I'm happy to report that it's gradually subsided and I'm feeling much better. My only complaint now is a super tight stomach. My baby seems to be hanging out mostly in one spot on my right.
  • I've had this for a while too and found that a pillow between my legs at night helps and so does keeping really hydrated. I try not to walk too much. It's sore but comes and goes in intensity. The worst is standing at the end of my day when I've been sitting for a couple of hours.
  • I had it really bad for several weeks and mainly on the left side too. I've started doing yoga and a lot of stretching every evening and it's helped a lot. It still comes around whenever I do a lot of walking, but not as severe
  • I've been In the same boat for over a month, I'm 26 weeks now. At the end of the day if I've been working I'm in tears it's so bad. Turning over in bed is awful, sleeping on the couch is a little better because it's a bit more firm. Dr said use the support belt but it only marginally helps. I got a pregnancy yoga video gonna give that a try but I'm not feeling hopeful.
  • This is my 6th pregnancy and I've dealt with it since my first. It gets worse with each pregnancy and we've tried EVERYTHING and nothing but delivering helps. Some days I can barely move. Some say a pregnancy belt helps them, but it's never helped me. I soak and try to get adjusted and that helps, but the pain never goes away.
  • I bought the Symphysis Maternity Belt. It gave me a lot of relief, plus after about 3 days of using it, I've been pain -free WITHOUT it! In the last few weeks, I've only had to use it 1 day while at Disneyland...but I figure all of that walking would give anyone pains! Lol
