Post pics of what you mommas have picked out for you're boys take home outfits.. It was so easy finding one for our DD last time , but having a hard time picking one out for our DS.
I got two from Carter's already! One has a hat, footed pants, and a short sleeve onesie. The other is long sleeve, with matching pants and socks. Weather is early October can be pretty unpredictable here, so I'd like to think we will be covered. Look for online coupons, too! Mine ended up being around $10 per set.
I'm going to have a friend from high school embroidery Baby's name onto a night gown and monogram a little hat. She makes and sells cute baby outfits to girls we know from growing up. I can't wait to get it from her.
Aww those all look so cute! These are the ones I have thought of so far, but wonder if getting a carter one would be more comfy and easy.. The prince one I would get in a long sleeve onesie and pair it with pants.. And I love the sleeper with putting his name on it, but it seems pricey for just a sleeper..
I never knew people planned this. I planned on packing some clothes for my son in my hospital bag but hadn't put any special thought into what he might wear. My sister bought me some cute Ralph Lauren footed onesies...that might work? #-o
Well, I was thinking about this onesie, with a pair of black & white striped pants, cute hat for a boy/headband for a girl (we are team green)... But since I saw that boy outfit @shannons913 posted, I'm debating getting that for a boy outfit and a different girl outfit. Love!!
*ETA: I checked with the seller of the little bowtie outfits. She doesn't accept returns So if the baby is a girl, I'd be stuck with a super cute $40 outfit that I can't use. If I knew someone with a baby boy on the way, I'd buy it and give as a gift. But I don't... Bummer.
My mom is actually knitting a coming home outfit for my baby a long with a blanket. Shes did it for my older sisters babies & she is doing one for me & my other sister who is also pregnant I havent gotten mine yet but I chose a light grey so I cant wait to see it!

so this is my first pregnancy and i had no idea that what the baby wears home was a big deal? can someone please explain or elaborate why it is important?? does it matter what we dress them in to come home?
It's just personal preference, @amsylvia. You can put them in whatever you want -your baby lol! If you want what they wear to leave the hospital to be special , you can plan it. Or, like I might do, you can just clothe them in a regular onesie. Up to you.
@przemosbabe: I can see how moms may want to plan a special outfit. It is a special moment to come home from the hospital, and could make pictures more fun. I just didn't realize it was such a big deal to plan it. I hadn't given much thought to it and marveled that others did. Maybe because I'm practical. I care but not enough to be elaborate about it or plan it much before I pack my hospital bag!

I never understood it with DD, and I don't understand it now. No one sees the baby come home, at least, not really. But if you want that first picture of your LO in a car seat to be special, it can be important to some.
I just picked a cute onesie and pants for DD. A dress isn't practical. It won't fit or look pretty with it all buckled and scrunched up for pictures in a car seat.
I think it has a lot to do with family tradition. The coming home outfit for us is a sentimental keepsake or heirloom item for the parents to bust out when they want to cry about how their baby is all grown up, ie "This is what we brought you home from the hospital in oh my god I can't believe you were this tiny!" We preserve the outfit like bride's preserve their wedding dress. Lol
It doesn't have to be that big a deal though if you don't want it to be.
I like something cute for pictures and such and memories honestly.. We ordered one from etsy for our daughter and were having a tough time finding one this time.. Girl clothes are sooo much easier and cuter lol!! This was our daughters coming home outfit.. Of course the tutu came off in the car seat and was just for pics..
Lurking from Nov! Brought a "special" outfit for DD to wear home from the hospital. She ended up spitting up all over it if I remember correctly. Either way I ended up having to change her & we didn't even end up getting discharged until 8:00 pm. Basically ... Bring a few outfits just in case & don't be surprised if things don't work out the way you plan
Re: Take home outfits for baby boys!
If it's a girl, we'll pair it with a black and yellow headband/bow!
We also have little matching socks with capes!
We are team green so I am in the process of picking out two outfits to take with.
Just FYI Carter has a sale on all their "Take-Me-Home" sets right now and they are adorable.

This is what we just bought! They had so many to choose from I couldn't resist.
