Weight loss tips for FTM

Hey All!

I'm 6 weeks PP & wanted to see if anyone had some tips and tricks for a FTM that worked to get back down to pre pregnancy weight! I'm eager & open for any suggestions pertaining workouts, meals, ect. So far my LO and me have been walking. Thank you in advance!

Re: Weight loss tips for FTM

  • Were you active before pregnancy? If so just slowly work your way back into your routine and make sure your drinking water eating several small meals a day will help as well since it keeps your metabolism up. If your breastfeeding you should be trying to eat several small meals a day anyway and drinking water out the wazoo:) look up work outs you can do with baby on youtube lol like wall sits while holding baby in front you!

  • With my first I did a lot of walking and then after 6 weeks did a workout DVD during naps - I liked Jillian Michaels but there are tons of options - then I'd shower at the next nap. It was good to do when the baby was still so young because the baby still sleeps a lot.

  • I walk and looked up workouts to do with my little man using him as the weight on pinterest. I have tried to do some of my workout videos but once I get started my little man seems to wake up and I have to stop. He recently has started sleeping longer at night and taking short naps during the day. I can't complain about the short naps because he has been doing so well at night.
  • Look into your community. My city for example has strollercize classes and Aquafit with baby. I also have a preschooler so those are hard for me but with just one it's great. My husband and I also started playing softball. It's something we can bring the kids too and do together.
  • I agree with everyone's tips! I also joined weight watchers for breastfeeding moms. Really like it so far and it's helping me to keep on track while maintaining milk supply!

    Ditto.
  • I've just been eating really healthy balanced meals and completely cut out sugar and processed foods, and switch off with jogging and yoga every other day. It's helped me lose 18 pounds so far and I'm 8 weeks postpartum! I've kind of hit a plateau though, haven't lost more than a pound in the last couple of weeks and can't figure out why!
  • Download the app my fitness pal. You can track your calories, for breastfeeding should be 2000-2500 if your moderately active, calorie input vs output is the key doesn't matter how much you workout you gotta eat right!

This is me. I have been eating balanced meals, no processed foods or fast food, no sugar. I dropped a lot of weight and then hit a plateau. I haven't been able to lose anymore weight. Not sure what to do from here. My doctor wants me to lose 20 more pounds and so do I.

  • Thank you all for the feedback!

It's so frustrating! I mean maybe if you're working out you're gaining muscle first and then the weight will start going down as fat goes down, but it's been like 3 weeks for me and no matter what I do I can't lose the last 12 pounds. I guess all we can do is continue to eat healthy and exercise and hope for the best!
