The size chart for carters says that newborn clothes fit up to 8lbs. Anyone know how accurate this is? I picked out a going home outfit from there but am trying to figure out if I should buy nb or 3mos. Big babies run on DHs side (he was 9#11oz, his dad just over 10 and his grandpa was 12). According to measurements (which I know are hit and miss and not overly accurate) this baby will probably be over 8lbs. If I have a 10lb baby will NB fit? If I end up with a 7lb baby will 3mos be way too huge?

Re: Carters clothes true to size?
Once your kid is born you can be a better judge of "when" a size will fit. For us, Carters was right on the nose predicting when she would griw out of something (she was 95th percentile in height----tall!). At 3 months, she grew out of 3M Carters clothes. At 6M we boxed up the 6M clothes. When we got to 18M I didn't put the last of those shirts and pants away until about 21-22 months old. But at 23 months she is well into 2T and growing out of 24M.
