Car seat Tantrum

My LO is 5wks old and as precious as can be until she is placed in the car sest. We have a nice Chicco car seat w/ soft head/neck padding, but she still screams. LO screams so much she loses her breathe and gives herself hiccups. As soon as she hears the unclicking buckle and feels my hands under her she immediately stops.

Anybody else going through this?
What's the trick?

Re: Car seat Tantrum

  • How soon did you start taking her out in it?
  • Loading the player...
  • DD also does this when she's in the car seat, but only when not moving. As soon as the vehicle or stroller is moving she quiets.
We've just been rocking the car seat if we put her in a few minutes before heading out to the car. She also likes when the seat is picked up and put down again...I think she's curious about the dropping sensation!

My LO also gets fussy if the car isn't moving did you ever keep at it until the car moved?

If so maybe she has a problem with the upright position of the seat, my aunt was trlling me the other day about car seats that recline a little more than normal ones i think they are for long road trips, maybe worth checking them out?

For now try to put her in the car seat while she's asleep but that would work if you're not the one driving in case she wakes up halfway through Nd starts screaming .. Good luck!
  • I just have to let her cry it out, as bad as I hate it. And if DH is w/ us we pull over, I nurse her, and she goes back in.
  • My LO IS 4 wks. She has been in her car seat a bunch. Between walks in stroller and car rides. She is just now starting to like it. Our car seat does recline more than normal. I reclined it all the way last week and it has seemed to help. My parents are a 45 minute drive and husband are a 2 hour drive. So she is just going to have to
Tough it out because momma needs to get out. Haha
  • Our little one hates going into the seat... Once in the seat and strapped in and has his blanket over his feet he usually goes right back to sleep. If not then he goes to sleep once we start moving. Even the day we left the hospital he only cried being put in. Doesn't matter how long we are in the car he sleeps. Ours doesn't recline. But it doesn't seem to bug him too much. Some of the positions this guy sleep in look quite uncomfortable to me! Lol
