Pet owners: have your pets figured it out??

I have two cats and a dog. (And a snake). I swear our old man kitty (he's 14) has figured out there's something up with me. He never leaves me alone. Not matter where I am he's always by my side. Is anyone else's pets acting like they know something's up, or is it just me?

Re: Pet owners: have your pets figured it out??

  • I've been spotting then bleeding for the last three and a half weeks. My trio of cats think I'm dying. I am not trusted to go anywhere by myself. They take shifts on death watch and wander around the house crying when they can't find me. I can't count how many times I've almost slammed 8yo Auskir's head in the door jamb as he races me to the bathroom. If I sit on the recliner all three try to get up on me, which is difficult considering 16yo Desdemona is "the wife" and 8yo Mushi is the exotic Siamese girlfriend... with a few too many inbred brain cells. One used my pelvis as a lauch/landing pad last night while I was dead asleep causing me to yelp. Oh, and Auskir has mommy issues, I swear sometimes he's trying to crawl up in my uterus while randomly trying to nurse any exposed skin.

I've noticed the biggest difference when meeting other people's dogs. Their dogs spend way more time trying to figure me out than anyone else in the group. They're also... more gentle?

  • We have a dog and he can definitely sense something is different, I think he can smell a difference... TMI but He started smelling my crotch which he didn't used to do to me (just rudely greeting new people).

  • My dogs just keep staring at me and every time I move an inch they stop what they're doing to stare at me. Heaven forbid I actually get up because then they're following me. Honestly I think they're looking for food....
  • My dog literally does not leave my side! She's even crying to be in bed with me at night, she's also starting to act up, like running away! She even messed in the house the other day when we were out at work which she never does, very strange, I'm sure she knows something's up

Your body Temps are up. Cats are really into the warmth.
  • My cat seems to know, he is constantly sleeping on my stomach now. My Labrador is blissfully unaware and I have the fend off the occasional launch straight towards my stomach at full speed.
  • Oh yeah. My cats want to live on my belly now. Dog is clueless, though.

All of my pets (2 cats and 1 dog) won't leave me alone. They've always been very cuddley, but lately, I can't get them to leave me alone

  • My dogs seem oblivious, and did last time too, except at the end where I swear my one dog knew I was going to go into labor. I woke up to pee around 4 a.m. and he was pacing the room. I went pee, got back into bed and my water broke.

  • People always call me the animal whisperer, but now that I'm pregnant no matter where I go, if there's an animal, it's right next to me. I find that my cats are way more chill and prefer to be in the same room I'm in all the time. I don't mind, less fighting is awesome.

  • I think my cat knows. She's been cuddling with me way more, and licking me a lot, which she never did before.
  • I personally don't have any pets other than a rabbit. However, my friend has a dog whom normally is all over the place because he's only a nine-month-old pup. He'll be off playing with his chew toys, or just walking around the house looking to play with Blue (her cat) but has never been one to pay to to much attention to the humans. He'll give hugs in the morning, and he'll nudge you with his paw if he wants you to take him outside or give him attention for a minute but then he is off again. Lately, he's my shadow when I visit. He will always have his paw on my lap or he's constantly laying on my feet. He has always been the most loving and independent dog (as independent as dogs can be I guess), has never been temperamental, not once! Well last time I was there her room mate was getting agitated with him for not listening to her (she didn't want him near me, she wanted him laying on his dog bed) and she went to go grab him by the collar in order to take him to his bed and he didn't growl, he made no noise at all but he did show her his teeth. He didn't bite her, no growling, he did quickly stop himself and went to his bed but we were all in total disbelief about his behaviour. Then 2 minutes went by and he came right back and laid on my feet just staring at me. I have a feeling he knows somethings up.
  • My dog Zoey, she definitely knows, she's always cuddling with me now. And more protective of me as well, growling at every little noise. Laying next to my tummy while keeping watch. Dh came up to me quickly while I was laying in bed this morning for a good bye kiss, she growled and lurched at him. I know she knows. She never acted that way to DH before.
  • My dog could instantly sniff out the pregnancy. It's kind of annoying how she buries her nose in me ( particularly my legs)all the time. She constantly wants to stand over me. If my foot it hanging off of the couch she'll stand over it so my foot is resting under her belly. She doesn't do any of these things to my husband and she likes him best! She's also started growling at anything that may be outside and she's never been vocal. I doubt she knows I'm pregnant. I would more believe that she senses that one of her pack members (me) is vulnerable.
  • Neither of my cats ever leave my side - they always are around!!!! The only bad thing is my 21lb cat thinks he is as light as a feather and constantly wants to walk across my stomach. His paws are like little daggers!!! Both are always so needy that I can't really tell if they know that anything has changed!

My older dog and 2 cats act pretty normal. Our puppy, however, suddenly stopped jumping on me and licks my belly. It's hysterical! He totally knows.
  • My 3 dogs are oblivious lol
  • I have a 6 month old lab puppy & even though I'm sure he's oblivious to me actually being pregnant, a few times when I was getting sick and my husband was home he ran to my hsuband, barked then led him to the bathroom door. Like, dad are you going to fix this or what? Mom is barfing! Lol. He will just keep running back and forth until my husband follows him.

I was pretty impressed (and entertained) because he's still a pup. :)
  • My cat totally knows. I've had her for 7 years, so longer than I've know DH. She follows me everywhere and always wants to snuggle. She's always been a lover but now she only wants me.
  • My two dogs are definitely in the know, the 4 year old Dane X Lincoln is super protective and will physically place himself between me and other dogs at the park and even shoulder barge them away or growl if they get too close, which is odd because he's usually tearing around playing with any other dog he sees.
The Rottie Lexie watches me like a hawk and won't let me go anywhere in the house without her and has abandoned her bed in favour of sleeping on the floor next to my side of the bed
  • My dog is a mommy's girl and since about 5 weeks she wants very little to do with me and has become the biggest daddy's girl and just wants to be with him all the time. I think she's preparing for when I'm too busy for her! Poor girl!
  • My dog knows for sure when I'm sleep on my side she sleeps curls up and lays touching my stomach. She used to sleep all over the bed now she has to sleep under my belly! It's so cute and comforting! I keep saying that her and the baby will know each other's heart beats I don't know how true that is but I hope so!
  • she also follows me everywhere I go
  • My cat lays with me whenever I am pregnant.  Usually, right on my stomach.  Later in pregnancy, they used to kick him probably b/c of the pressure.  It is always funny to see the cat respond to that! lol

  • We have four dogs, all different sizes and breeds, and they follow me everywhere now. I was still in bed when DH left for work today. He let them out, played with them, and brought them back in. We have an entire house but they just came right back into our bedroom and laid down next to our bed until I got up. Total sweeties.
  • I think my dog knows. We've been through this once before. (The 1st time, he labored with me all night as the husband slept...) Last night I made a noise as I rolled over, I guess like a moan, and he ran into our room and was like face to face with me. Scared the crap out of me when I opened my eyes...
  • Oh, my cat, Katniss, definitely knows. Anywhere I go, she's right at my feet. I can't tell you how many times I've about tripped over her! And when I go to the bathroom; to brush my teeth she's right in my face, to shower she's sitting right at the door, using the restroom she sits right at my feet & "grooms" my legs. So weird. If we're watching tv she's gotta be able to see me, and when we go to bed.....she's laying right beside my stomach. She's in the know for sure (:
  • I've read that dogs and cats can actually hear the heartbeat in utero (not sure from when) so I think they do know at some point. My definitely started acting different pretty quickly, so I think they know something is up.

We have two dogs and my girl seems pretty oblivious although she does sniff me when I'm laying on the couch and usually ends up laying right on my stomach. At 46 pounds it's not fun when she decides to leap up randomly. My boy has never been much of a cuddler but starting at 8 weeks he started sleeping at my feet in bed which he usually always sleeps in his dog bed! He follow me around a lot more than he used to as well and if I sleep in they will stay with me instead of getting up with dh. I just hope they will be good when the baby arrives!

My cats do that, too! I can't close any doors in the house because when I do, they scratch to be let in, and then just sit and watch me. It's kinda creepy, actual.
  • My dog knew before I even found out! He would come lay on my belly out of no where! Now he won't leave my side! If I pee he is right there by the toliet when I shower he lays right outside of the shower! He won't let me husband touch me or he goes crazy!! He acts like its his baby!!
