Missing exercise!

I was very active prior to our great news and I managed to keep up usual regime up until about two weeks ago when Ms really came to town and decided to worsen in the evenings!
I really miss it but I just cant! The most I manage is a short walk with the dog but it's driving me crazy!
I really wanted to be active but now I'm worrying that when I start to get back into it my fitness levels will have depleted?!
I know I'll feel so much better about myself when i start into it again but just don't feel like it's anytime soon the way things are going! I dont mean to whinge - sorry!
How's everyone else coping?

Re: Missing exercise!

  • I feel the same way. I reached for something today and felt my arm jiggle and wanted to cry.  I just have no energy and my doc said to keep my heart rate under 120.  I am very hopeful the second trimester will bring a new burst of energy!  I hope to get into swimming then

  • I am in the same boat. I have zero energy. I woke up today feeling really good, actually got ready to go to the gym, sat down and fell asleep! Oh and it was 9:30am when I decided it was nap time! So unlike me to nap at all.

Hoping to go today even if it's just for 30 minutes on the elliptical. I can handle that, right? Only 30 minutes! That's all I want!
  • Totally me. I used to run 3-4 miles and do strength training most days. I definitely feel mushier and miss my toned arms. Mine is less MS and more pure exhaustion.

Our energy levels and nausea will get better. While you won't be able to jump back in to a previous routine, you can work up to it. And even if it's a less strenuous one, it's something! We're close!

I agree with the other moms here. I used to go to the gym 3-4 days a week and walk about 2 1/2 miles 5-6 days a week...now due to zero energy all I do is walk my dogs with the hubs. C'mon second trimester...I want my energy back :)
  • I think a lot of us are in this boat! I have just resigned myself to a decreased activity level for now-- after all baby is most important. It gets frustrating but just know that it is temporary! I am hoping 2nd tri brings lots of energy for at least some yoga or something- anything! I was starting marathon training before I found out lol! Needless to say that has stopped! My body made sure of it!
  • I know what you mean. I was taking 8 kickboxing classes a week. Now I can't do anything between the nausea and exhaustion.
  • Oh thanks guys! Good to know I'm not alone! Here's to the 2nd trimester! Here's hoping it gets easier! Those work out endorphins are needed
  • Yeah, all I do is go for long walks. It's all I can manage and I don't feel bad about it. Do what works for you!

  • I miss it too! I was doing bootcamp (modified) 3/week and was in such a good routine until the extreme nausea/vomiting/exhaustion came in at 7 weeks. Now at 9 weeks and it's still so horrible! I didn't have this with my other two, I can't wait to feel like myself again and to get moving!!!
  • Also remember that the "mushiness" may be less about losing tone and more about the relaxing effect hormones have on your muscles and joints. When I was carrying my twins, I had been working very hard on a fitness/nutrition regime and had to be very forgiving of myself during the 1st trimester. It got MUCH better in the 2nd when I had the energy to move again, even though it couldn't be as intense as before.

  • Too exhausted to exercise. I really miss it! Also all the bloating is making me feel like a sea lion.
