Don't feel letdown

I don't feel it when my milk comes in. I have a good supply, but I don't feel the letdown feeling. I know not everyone does, but my family is bewildered because apparently it's such a unique feeling and they all warned me about it. Anyone else weird like me?

Re: Don't feel letdown

  • I almost wish I didn't feel mine because mine is so intense it is painful. And it happens anytime my daughter whimpers.

  • I didn't realize you were supposed to feel a letdown :s I don't feel anything...
  • With my first two it wasn't painful, but with my new lo it feels like bricks coming down. It really hurts

I dont either...my husband didnt understand how I didnt know..
  • I don't feel my letdown but I can tell when it's there based on LO swallowing like mad (I have a strong letdown). Kind of glad I can't feel it. Most people I hear talk about feeling it say that it's painful. And I have enough pain from LO clamping down trying to slow it himself.
  • Didn't feel it at all with DS1 but with DS2 it feels like dulled down bee stings. Ouch!
  • I didn't feel it at all until this week (LO is almost 5 weeks). Not sure why it changed other than I've been low supply and feel like it's starting to build up a little more now. It feels like a mild stinging. Not painful thankfully!
  • I didn't feel it ever with my 1st. I feel it this time though.

  • I don't feel it either... so glad I'm not the only one.
  • I only notice when DS starts spluttering (strong letdown), but don't generally feel anything.
  • I don't feel my let down, and my breasts never feel full vs. empty..

I didn't start feeling it until the beginning of the 4th week (DS is 5.5 weeks now). Feels a tiny bit burn-y and heavy, but not bad.
  • I just feel a strong tingly feeling and didn't know til like a week ago that that was my "letdown". Also, is it just me or is that weird vocabulary to use to describe milk releasing? Lol!
  • I'm now 3w4d postpartum and I've JUST started feeling it. Feels like really painful pins and needles. I hate it!

My aunt said it felt like cold water rushing down from her shoulders, so maybe that's why it's called a letdown. I agree it's a weird term. I think some people still get creeped out by the thought of humans producing milk so they don't like saying "my milk came in" *eyeroll*
