My 2 and a half year old was going on the potty occasionally. Now that I'm home for the summer (I'm a teacher) we've been trying to get him to go more consistently. He has refused. I don't know if he's just enjoying time with me at home and doesn't want to take a break to use the potty or it's something else. He has just refused recently. We push, but we don't force him. What else can we do to get him to use the potty more? We've offered him praises and prizes, but nothing has worked yet.
Don't do anything. It doesn't sound like he's ready. It's also normal for toddler not to be potty trained until 3 years old. When he shows interest and/or asks, then put him on the potty. I have also heard that it's much harder to potty train boys versus girls.
