Pica is when you crave substances with little or no nutritional value, like clay or chalk. I haven't eaten anything weird, but I do sometimes get the urge to smell certain things. Does anybody else crave weird items?
I've been an ice eater most of my life. When my cup is empty, I absent-mindedly snack on my ice. The last few weeks though, I savor each little piece. It's not like I go out of my way to eat it, I just enjoy it more now when I do.
My last pregnancy I ate ice like there was no tomorrow. Likely because I was anemic during most of the pregnancy. This time I haven't noticed anything but I'm also better at taking my vitamins and such this time around.
@BBaires it didn't show up in my early blood work in February. Two appointments ago, I brought it up to my doctor and she said that we'd test again "soon." Maybe in July as she never mentioned for my appointment at the end of this month. My mom and all of her sisters became anemic during pregnancy. I'm always tired, even now, so my mom brings it up often.
