Top 3 Girl Names- Suggestions Welcome!

Hi all! I've never posted on this board and haven't been on The Bump in several months, but I am looking for advice as I am at 34 weeks and starting to freak out about not having it at least down to 2 names. We have a list of 3, but we literally discuss it every evening and can't decide which our favorite is. We are open to new name suggestions as well. We do know the middle name will be Pearl. We have a 2 year old boy named Bennett James. Our list is:

Elizabeth Pearl  (We'd call her Libby, but Elizabeth leaves her open to other options if she doesn't like that when she's older. Elizabeth is very popular though.)

Julianna Pearl (We both love the sound and sweetness of this name, but DH thinks it's a mouthful. We can't decide on a nickname.)

Lila Pearl (We love the sound, but Lila sounds short and also similar to Lily, which is too popular for us. My sister thinks everyone would pronounce it Lil-uh and we should use a Y, but I dislike that spelling.)

For an idea of our style, here are names we liked but nixed due to popularity or some other reason: Isla, Evelyn, Genevieve, Lydia, Ada.

Our last name is common/easy to say and starts with a hard C. Open to suggestions on new names as well as opinions on our list.

All are great options...I like Julianna and Lila the most

  • Juliana Pearl, Jillian Pearl, Julia Pearl, or Lillian Pearl would be pretty.
  • I love your names! DD is Isla and DS would have been Evelyn. I don't think you will have to worry about pronunciation with Lila. I also prefer this spelling. It's my favorite name of your three. We are considering Pearl for a first name. I also love Alice and Vivian.
  • I'd do Elizabeth or Julianna. Lila doesn't do it for me.
  • Another vote for elizabeth or juliana
  • Love Elizabeth Pearl with the nn Libby! So adorable!

  • Elizabeth is best but they're all great
    I would pronounce it Lie-la

  • All great names. I'd choose Lila. I don't think she'd have pronounciation problems.
  • Elizabeth is a fantastic name (Timeless). I don't care for Julianna , it seems very 90's to me....a part of the Ana phase. (Brianna, Adrianna , Liliana, Juliana etc...not-timeless) I prefer Juliet. Also suggest Lilia (Lily-a)
  • I think Lila Pearl sounds best together, but Julianna is a lovely name.
  • All great names, but I gotta go Elizabeth Pearl. I love love love the nickname Libby!

    Exactly my thoughts!!
  • Thank you all! I just wasn't sure if Elizabeth would be too common. Libby is a nickname we have rarely heard in our area, so I thought that would be a way to differentiate from others.

  • I like them all but for some reason I'm really drawn to Elizabeth Pearl. I love the sound of Libby Pearl, it's so cute!
  • I like Elizabeth fine, and really like Libby, but just throwing it out there that the first thing I thought of when I saw it with your son's name is pride and prejudice. Not a bad association, but just wanted to point out the Jane Austen reference!

  • They're all nice. I like Julianna and Lila a bit more than Elizabeth though.
As far as Lila goes, I think most people would say it like lie-luh, so if that's what you're going for I don't think it would be a problem.
  • @kh1824  I posted on nameberry and got the same response, with some people saying they wouldn't use it just because of that reason. The association doesn't bother me since she'd mostly be going by her nickname.

  • I think you listed Elizabeth Pearl first for a reason -- it's your top choice.  Other than Elizabeth being too popular for your tastes, you've got no downsides to this choice.  And if you don't wind up using Libby, there are a ton of other nn options for this name.

  • I love Lila. I don't think people would pronounce it wrong. All are lovely options. I personally don't like the nn Libby. But you have so many options with Elizabeth, Julianna nn could be Julie or Anna.
  • Elizabeth Pearl... Libby Pearl. It's perfect.

  • I'd do Elizabeth or Julianna. Lila doesn't do it for me.
This. I give a slight edge to Julianna since it's less popular. Only issue is the people may not pronounce it the way your prefer and I dislike the NN Julie. You can't go wrong with Elizabeth though.
