Tmi but struggling with Hemroids :(

pain in the butt...literally! Anyone else deal with Hemroids and have any tips/advice?? I see my dr today for regular visit so maybe she can prescribe something!? I've been using preparation H as it was listed on my "safe to use" form from my OB office. It's not really helping though.

Re: Tmi but struggling with Hemroids :(

  • I feel ya! I had bad ones with my first and twice as bad this time, in the last 10 weeks they have gotten worse. I have a cluster of small one (prob about 5-6) the size of blueberries and 2 huge ones the size of seeded grapes. Very painful I got a rx from doctor but it's not helping. I can't find anything to help them (I know this didn't help at all just wanted you to know your not alone!) if you find anything that helps let me know!! Sometimes a bath will help with inflammation, those witch hazel pads help a little too. Good luck!

Proto Foam is a good Rx to ask for. Has lidocaine to stop the pain and hydrocortisone to shrink.
    Also OTC: RectiCare is good.
  • I have them really bad to I asked my doc for a prescription and he said it wont do any better than what I can buy at the store. (Didnt believe that answer but he was probably to lazy to raise a pen) but I have tried almost everything at wal mart and the thing thats helped me the most is Womens preparation H wipes they are sooo much nicer that the regular witch hazel wipes it soothes the area with cucumber, chamomile and witch hazel and its actually for preg women/ post labor :) hope this helps its in a purple& yellow box.
  • I'm with ya. It hurts something fierce. Oh the joys of being preggers.

Recticare. Worth the $30. I need to make that my username.

Seriously though- I use prep H wipes made for preggos, followed by Tucks and then finally recticare every time I use restroom. The recticare I use any time I start feeling irritation. It has lidocaine in it and is the only Otc thing that does. I don't get rid of them but at least I get relief until I can deal with it after pregnancy

I hear you. Me too!! I bet if you search RectiCare in google we pop up.

  • (Tmi) My doctor prescribed anusol(Canada) and it brought down the swelling emensly, other then that I have just been eating lots of fruits and veggies and fiber. It has yet to flare up again. It is just one that sticks out but when flares up is the size of a large blueberry. So now it just sticks out and gets itchy the odd time. I just keep it very clean using baby wipes when I go to the bathroom. Not much you can do to get rid of them while pregnant but guess what!! We're almost all done!! And the. We can really get these things fixed! :)
  • Thanks for all the input!! I really appreciate it :)

Constipation can cause it but more than likely it is the pressure baby is putting on your pelvic floor. So eating fiber etc helps but just be prepared that this is likely just part of pregnancy and will get worse (delivery is a B) before it gets better for you!

@corndogrobot #recticarepreggos4life seems like a good hashtag. A little gangster and it gets the point across. And... Who doesn't love a meaningless hashtag??!! Haha :)

  • I started taking fiber gummy supplements with my first pregnancy and never stopped. I'm now 37 weeks with baby #2. Witch hazel pads, which your going to want anyways for after baby, also help. Sorry....totally a pain in the rear.
  • I have posted on this a bunch of times and really struggled with this throughout my third trimester on and off which is weird because I was never constipated at all . Seems they are still there but way under control. Don't stress, as painful as they are,and just give it some time. I was prescribed Ana lex which I take on and off. Prep h, witches hazel...one thing i found for a bit of relief and call me crazy is Vicks vapor rub( external) and when they get really bad Vaseline. I found this remedy online and I never told my ob but lots of preggers swore by it so I gave it a try. Like I said I still have mine but turned more into skin tags and much more bearable to wear I have virtually no pain. Mine were sooo painful I even thought they were Thrombosed ( blood clots)so I feel your pain. Do a warm bath everyday too...mine were so bad I never thought I'd get relief so really just realize it's a pain and we all have them so try to do what you can for relief and in time the pain will ease for sure! Good luck!
