we have decided to let our 9 year old boy and 6 year old girl chose our child's name so they can be a big part of having a little brother or sister...

so far my son has chosen the name Scarlett Marie for a girl
and my daughter has chosen the name Landon Christopher for a boy

Thoughts?!

  • These are my munchkins!!
  • If you like the names that's fine, but to avoid a potential train wreck if they decide to get more "kreeative" in the next few months, maybe have a list of three names they can help choose from.
  • Jacob Logan and Aubrie Alyse!
  • I think they did a great job! I love both names they chose and think they actually go really nicely with your other kiddos names. Good work!!
  • That is a fantastic idea!
  • They did a great job picking those names! Scarlett is my top baby girl name :)

My sister and I got to help pick our little sister's name as well!

  • We've run hypothetical options by the 10 & 5 year olds. (The 14yo is visiting bio dad in FL and I really don't need the ex filling my kid's brain with "the new baby is going to ruin your life" poison.)

DS2 picked Logan Riley and Alexandra (Alexa) Caroline

DD picked Bruce Ryan (after GPA) and Rebecca (Becca) Genevieve

I provided them with the short list, 5-6 options per sex. Otherwise DD nominates REALLY 80's names. Or Dora.
  • Lol someone in my hometown let their kids do this and they picked "cherry sprinkles". No joke they named their kid that.
  • I just literally laughed out loud lol
  • I also just laughed out loud! Human is a hilarious name @jordans_wife

  • We asked my almost 3 yr old her suggestions... We got KiKi and Coco.

  • We asked what they thought, knowing this was going to be funny...baby, barbie, poopy pants, spongebob or it.  Got to love 5 and 4 yo's!

  • My niece gave her baby sister (before we knew the sex) the name smackadoodle. That is what we called the baby until they found out the sex lol. Once we knew it was a girl, my niece named her Rose Leaf, but my sister didn't go for that name either lol

  • @SparklesC Lmao! Ya my brother in law latched right onto Human. How freaking funny would it be to really name your kid that though?!;)

Those are really good names! They must be taking this very seriously. If I'd been able to choose my younger sibling's name at the time, it probably would've been a Lisa Frank character or something. Haha

Wow, you lucked out... my parents still make fun of me because I wanted to name my future baby Falafel (when I was like 8).
  • My 4 year old wants to name the baby after herself. Real humble lol. And she calls it jellybean so she proposed Olivia Jellybean Jr. We vetoed it but still call the baby jelly bean :)
  • Bravo to your children. My 7 year old wants to name the baby after pokemon or a variation of his own name.

    Not happening lol

  • I'm super impressed with those names! I asked my 4 year old daughter what she would name our new baby and she said if it's a girl, Baby Margaret (from Daniel tiger) or Skye. If it's a boy she said Marshall. So random haha.
