It's my baby bump... Right?!

I am 29 weeks pregnant with my first child.. My baby bump is getting bigger and bigger and everyone wants to touch it! I am not a touchy feely person at all.. I try to tell people that, and some respect that. Others, specifically family members, do not understand how uncomfortable it is when they want to touch me and the baby isn't even moving! I told them I would put their hand on my belly to feel him move when I'm ready, but they still get upset. Am I being selfish? What else could I say to them?

  • If it's a woman: "Can I touch your breast, y'know, just to see how they feel?... No? then, no, you cannot touch my stomach without asking permission."

If it's a man: "Can I grab your dick?.... No? then, no, you cannot touch my stomach without asking permission."

    Kids: They get a pass.

I'd be frank & tell them that pregnancy has made you crave your personal space. You aren't trying to be rude but it makes you uncomfortable to be fussed & touched over without permission.

Usually if you do it with an apologetic smile & pull away slightly folks get it. If that doesn't register then go with the usual,"please don't touch me".

I don't know what it is about pregnancy but folks just lose their minds & all sense of boundaries. Both with their mouth & their hands.

  • @bayouwife haven't had this problem but definetly will keep what you do in mind I can't even imagine what their facial expressions must look like when you do that
  • I was very clear early on that I did not want people touching me (and it IS me they would be touching).  I've softened a bit since then, but I did almost punch my future BIL in the face when he was druni ad thought he was being funny trying to touch my belly,

  • OK, thank you, I am actually totally fine with people touching my belly WHEN HE IS MOVING. If not, it's weird! I will let you know when you can feel something lol.

I did not handle this well at all this weekend. I was at the STOVE and my MIL came and was groping my belly. I NEVER mind her feeling kicks or movement but she just held on and I felt like she felt entitled. I was a huge dick about it, sorry to say.... "Uh yeah he's not moving and I don't think he will want to move now" in a really bitch-ayyy voice. Felt bad but damn! Back UP!!

If he's not moving there's nothing to feel but me, and that's....weird.
  • I have been lucky that only two people have touched my belly without asking but it didn't bother me and they at least weren't strangers. Other than those two only my husband and son have touched my belly. If anyone else did I may have to smack them! I don't like random people touching me for some odd reason....
