Anyone feeling contractions???

Hello everyone! I'm 35 weeks pregnant and my due date is July 17, and I'm getting contractions (or cramps not so sure)on my lower back area. Yesterday I had an appointment with my doctor and he said it was normal, and I'm okay but sometimes I can't stand the pain. I'm just wondering if anyone has felt this or is feeling this or going through this...it's my first pregnancy, and im a bit concerned, worried, anxious, I don't know what to expect.

Maybe? I'm also 35 weeks (due date 7/20) and I've been having a tight uterus off and on for a while now. The last couple days I've had very very mild mentrual-like cramps. Water and changing position seem to help, so I haven't called my doctor about it yet (I saw her Monday and had an ultrasound yesterday with no sign that anything was going on), but if they become more intense or less intermittent, I'll definitely be getting checked out. I'm sort of glad to be seeing her every week now so it's never long between visits.

@hilarym7 LOL I think that will end up being me! I'm lucky to have had very few cramps during my pregnancy but have been getting them in the last week or so... turns out I just had to go. On the bright side... that system is flowing a little easier! ;)
  • Yep! I get them pretty regularly now that I am almost 37 weeks. Nothing consistent though. They suck. lol

  • I had one real contraction at 33 weeks after overstimulating my nipples.  Oops!  It felt exactly like mandyaddie described.

Since then, I've had a lot of menstrual-like cramps, backache, and BH contractions (where my uterus hardens and contorts).  I'm 36 weeks.  If I didn't have the first "real" contraction, I might confuse these other symptoms as contractions.  But when you have real ones… you'll know it.  You won't be able to talk.

My BH contractions are much more frequent and intense after DH and I have sex.

    We're almost there!
  • Thanks!!! Yes they feel like I'm cramping when I'm on my days, but thanks this did help me ease my mind. Every time I feel pain I start to worry...now I'm thinking maybe this baby is not gonna be a July baby lol.. But thanks :)
  • b-( had em for a month now..
Been checked twice with no cervical change. They've definitely intensified as time has gone on. Yesterday they were excruciating and I honestly thought it was time. They lasted from 5pm to 9:45pm, today I've started to see bit of mucus plug. Luckily I have an ob appointment tomorrow and will be checked again. I've been enduring them what seems now forever..
  • I'm also due in July 17th but I haven't had any contractions yet (well only I felt cramps once). Hopefully I don't go beyond my due date!

I haven't felt shit, lol. Even after sex, orgasm, nipple stim... Nada. I'm gonna go to 42 weeks :-S

    Same thing here..
    Edit: and I'm 37 weeks..
  • I'm 36 weeks tomorrow and last night/morning they goy unbearable they even got to 10 minutes apart for 2 hours with my first I never felt this I can get so uncomfortable. Why is it that we go through this torture why can't they come when were ready to go to the hospital and let that be it it's been 2 months now and they're just getting worse good luck to us ladies and thag these next few weeks go by a bit quicker
  • I'm sorry, these responses are hilarious. Ditto to lower back aches, cramping/ contractions after sex, orgasm, nipple stimulation. I take extra strength Tylenol, drink water, put on my maternity belt, and/or lay down. I think little missy won't come till July.
  • Thanks ladies I'm glad to know I'm not the only one...with the baby moving inside like he's playing soccer or wrestling with his umbilical cord and sometimes the kicks are painful now I have to deal with contractions which are unbearable but seems like everything is okay, no need to add more stress in worrying... Thanks ladies this helped:) :-h
  • Lmao I seriously feel like I'm going to be pregnant up until 42 weeks as well. everyone says I'm "high" still, and I literally don't know if I've had contractions other than one time. no signs of baby coming due July 16!

All the time but been resting all day everyday this week def don't want to go into labor since my mom isn't here yet. I have children and would love for my husband to be with me the entire time to bond. Other wise I'll be delivering alone. So he can stay in lol plus haven't set anything up yet and I'm almost 38 weeks.

I have had BH contractions but they aren't "painful," just uncomfortable. My bump is very firm all the time now. My stomach muscles feel like I've done 1000 crunches! I'm carrying her high, but I've read that baby doesn't always drop until showtime.

I had 0 contractions until last night they got pretty uncomfortable & painful im 37+ 1 so I think my baby may finally want to come out :)
  • I am 38 weeks today and have had no contractions, not even braxton hicks as far as I know. I'll be a FTM so I have no idea if this is normal or not. But good luck with yours!
  • I haven't found anything that helps the contraction pain in my belly, but if it's giving you muscle cramps in your back, I've found that using a heating pad or like a rice heat pack for 1-2 hours is MAGICAL! My back pain goes away and stays gone for the rest of the day
  • I'm 35 weeks 5 days. I have had a few menstral like cramps for the past few weeks. However, this past week, especially yesterday, have been much more intense and frequent. My lower back just started to hurt too. Has anyone called the doc or just letting it rude our with water until you can start timing them. I def don't wanna go too early...I got my cervix checked last week and doc said completely closed...I have heard though that you can dilate completely in hours...so confused!!

Having some pains right now. Nothing intense, but they are there, and coming and going. Feels kinda like gas pains and period cramping, plus my back kinda hurts, but I just tried to use the bathroom, so gas is not the problem. Just made 38 weeks today, and my appointment is Tuesday. Hopefully she will tell me I've progressed. I'm taking our hospital bags with me just in case! ;)
  • I went to the er last Saturday night for period like cramps in my back that went on for hours and turns out it was just false labor and I'm still not dilated any

Had contractions and serious ligament pains in my pelvis last week. Was admitted due to threatening labour contractions that started to come at 3-5mins apart. As I was just 33 weeks and a few days, the doctors had to try a number of methods to slow the contractions and ensure that I got steroids to mature the baby's lungs. Good think too is that the cervix was closed. I did an entire week in hospital on fluids and pain meds. Home resting now but still get those awful contractions and period like cramps which I treat with panadeine. This process is really hard :(

36w 5d and Back pain, strong pressure in my pubic area, cramping, and lovely diarrhea at 3a this morning. I'm gonna take extra strength Tylenol. I really want to go to church, and allow hubby to enjoy this buffet spot he's taken a liking to.
  • FTM here and will be 36 weeks tomorrow.

I am not sure what a "real" contraction will feel like, but I do know just from reading and talking to my mid-wife that the tightening I have been experiencing are braxton hicks contractions.  Which I am still trying to understand because I hear that these are "practice" contractions, however, real contractions feel nothing like them.  So confusing!

When I was in L&D about a month ago being monitored for high BP, the nurse asked me if I was feeling the contractions that were showing up on the monitor.  I wasn't feeling anything at all.  At the time I was 32 weeks.  So, I was apparently having contractions then, but wasn't feeling them.

I have a friend that is pregnant with her second baby and she is 11 weeks behind me, so she is 25 weeks.  She has said to me on numerous occasions that she is having contractions.  I ask her if they are BH contractions and she says no, real contractions. Okay, so this makes me really confused!  Am I having contractions and don't know if because I don't know the difference between "real" contractions and BH?  And what if I am one of those big dummy's that go into labor and don't even realize it because I have no idea what to expect or what to look for?  Ugh...I can totally see it now...me showing up at the hospital with the baby literally getting ready to fall out of me because I waited to long!!
  • @babylo1 I was that 1st time mom that took too long to get to the hospital ! I almost gave birth in the car lol, I promise that won't happen this time ! You will know when you're in labor, I was just scared and thought "maybe I'm just in bad bad pain" but no!!! You will know, its almost impossible not to know when you're in labor with contractions ... BH? That can pass but real contractions you will feel , just don't take any chances and don't wait too long to go to the hospital like me!
  • I started getting them week 36, I am 37+2 now. And my doctor told me they aren't cramps bc I was having those and that was ligament pain , contractions are up high on your tummy and tightens like rock hard. With that I get pressure in my cervix and lower back pain.
  • I'm having some serious cramps, lower abdomin like menstral cramps. Obvious pelvic region pain/ discomfort. Any reason I should be concerned about these cramps right now? I'm 37 weeks on Tuesday. Should I feel like things are progressing or still far out? I have over an hour commute to work so don't want to push it!
  • Any other signs, besides contractions, @mbrewington? Try timing them, switch positions. Take notice if they intensify.
  • Omg YES. I had the worst contractions last night. 37w1d I'm a ftm and it is so frustrating trying to time them and figure out if I should have gone in. I have GHTN and my doctor wanted to induce me yesterday, but I am on medication and my bp is staying stable so we are trying to wait an extra week. That being said I hope I go on my own before the induction, but I'm a FTM so not likely. Really intense cramping tightening back pain and shooting pains down my legs all night and till about noon and then it fizzled out @-)

  • Yes! Our bodies are getting ready for labor ;) Drink lots of water and lay down on your left side. If the contractions continue and are consistently 5 mins apart for an hour, go in!
