Drop in baby's heart rate at 24 weeks?

I had a routine Doctors appt today and typically at all of my previous appointments the baby's heart rate has been between 150 and 160. Today it was 130.
Doctor said everything was fine, but I was just asking to see if anyone else has experienced this?

Re: Drop in baby's heart rate at 24 weeks?

  • At my appointment today the dr said baby's heart rate was all over the place-higher when moving and lower when resting. He didn't give me exact numbers but said it was normal.

  • They do a range because it depends on their activity. Was it your usual appt time?
  • No actually, this appointment was first thing this morning at 8am.
Usually I go on my (1pm) lunch hour.
  • All of my previous appointments had been around 150 beats.  and just a few days ago dropped to 140. not too much lower.  doc didn't seem concerned...?

  • I'm not sure of its true, but I've noticed differences in hr depending on time of day.
  • I'm 22 weeks and a few days and my baby's heart beat always fluctuates. It's been 130s it's been 160s. You're ok. I was told in the first tri that as long as it doesn't go down to 100 that were good.

I'm 23 weeks, but my last appt in the beginning of June, the babies heart rate was 130.. Usually other appts it's 150... So I asked the doc and she said it's fine, because it depends if the baby is resting or moving. Also like PP mentioned, it wasn't my usual time I go, so I suppose the mornings my LO rests and in the afternoon he's moving.
  • It also decreses as we progress into our pregnancies. You can find averages based on week of pregnancy online. I can't remember for sure, but i think that by 40 weeks it's 120 bpm on average.

During my last appt. while using the Doppler baby's heart rate jumped from 150 to 157. I commented because that was much higher than my previous appt. when it was in the high 130s but my doctor said it's normal to jump all over the place and anything between 110-160 is normal.

  • My doctor said that it can go as low as 110 and that's still normal the heart rate is usually higher when baby is awake and lower when baby is resting
