Question for Catholic moms.

So, this may be a weird question. When I was pregnant with daughter, she would always kick and flipflop during mass at transubstantiation, and then again when I took communion. I told a couple of people about it, and they thought I was exaggerating or making it up, but it really happened every time! It was really really cool to me!!
This baby, not really yet. He/she kicked a little when I took communion a couple of weeks ago, and that has been all so far.
So, I was just curious if anyone else has had anything similar happen?

  • With DS he kicked randomly throughout the day.  This LO is quite active as well, but similarly all over the place (time/day).

Cool! Yeah, both mine have been pretty active as well, at random times ( although things like Popsicles or frozen yogurt tend to always jolt them into action ;). ).

To clarify, I was just curious if anyone had had baby kick/move around in conjunction with the Eucharist. I know some people will think I'm a religious weirdo, but I'm ok with that.
  • Yes, I'm Catholic and should have specified that I didn't necessarily feel the kicking in conjunction with a particular part of Mass.  I probably should have been a bit more explicit in my answer.
  • That is so cool!! I've only felt very small sporadic movements so far that don't seem to be connected with anything.

But I know that sometimes I feel my own heart quicken at the time of transubstantiation during the mass-- maybe baby can sense your excitement somehow at that time and he or she starts wiggling around!  :)
  • That is so awesome! Sometimes when I took communion with my son he jumped around. I always thought that he is getting a blessing and he was excited about it! It hasn't happened with this little guy yet, but I would hope he gets excited about getting a blessing like his brother!
  • Can't say I ever noticed it during communion specifically.  But I always noticed a lot of bouncing during church, I always thought it was because of the organ, like maybe the really loud, low notes were sending some cool vibrations through me or something!  And I have a habit of wiggling my toes when the bells ring while the host is being prepared, so I always thought it was funny that we were secretly wiggling at the same time.
