I have been trying to get pregnant for awhile now with our second child. I did 4 rounds of clomid and timed intercourse without success. I switched practices and my doctor wants to do injections with trigger shot and IUI. I know this is the next logical route and I am scheduled to learn how to give myself the injection and get my baseline blood work done on Friday. However, I'm reading all of the potential risks and side effects of these drugs and it is making me really nervous. We want another child, but I'm very worried about the risk. Can someone tell me her experience with this? I think maybe if I know that this is normal to be scared or if there really is nothing to worry about because many women do this, I will feel better...
You just posted on a board full of women going through some sort of fertility treatment.
Is it the injections you are scared of? The side effects? The chances it doesn't work? What?
Kid #1 - 09/03/12
Kid #2 - maybe???
Diagnosed with Severe Ashermans Hysteroscopy #10 - scar tissue grew back reblocking my right tube #11 or IVF with scarring still inside? 1 lone embryo from September 2016 retreival, dx with Trisomy 16, starting fresh
I found that I had way less side effects, like mood swings and hot flashes, with injections vs clomid. I also am confused as what your fears are exactly.

Exactly! "Hey guise you know all the treatments and drugs you're using? I'm scared of what they will do to my body/my baby/will I get cancer/birth defects?" Not the best opening question.
Your doctor is the best one to discuss those types of questions.
I agree with Lindsey, however, if your question is related strictly to side effects, that injectables are much better than clomid. Although high estrogen levels make me cry/emotional.
I have been through 5 rounds of heavily medicated/injectible treatments, 3 IUIS and 2 IVFS. the side effects I dealt with was weight gain but not until round 3 and more, emotional of course, I basically got a free boob job. I was a size B and after 5 rounds I'm a D. The weight gain and drugs did this. But as far as anything negative on me health wise or my beautiful fertility made son. No way I'm fine and he's fine. And I'm beginning round 6 in hopes of baby #2. If I had any bad feelings towards it I wouldn't subject myself or my potential child to it again. Modern medicine is amazing. You'll be fine.
Also I hate needles and the injections are easy. Don't stress and good luck
