Active baby in belly, does this mean active when he comes out?

FTM here, just curious if those of you who had active babies in your belly came out just as active! I'm 18 weeks and the ultrasound tech was having such a hard time because my little one is so wild in there! It took her 45 minutes to get all the pictures she needed because he wouldn't sit still!

Re: Active baby in belly, does this mean active when he comes out?

  • I have an active baby too. At the 12 week nt scan and at my anatomy scan the poor lady had to chase the baby around. I would also be curious to know if this means baby will be very active once born?

  • My first was SO laid back in the womb and still is; his brother was a wild man in the womb, was a pretty laid back baby, but once he started to walk, he hit the ground running and has been into everything since. Lol

  • I did hear that babies can have the same pattern after birth. Not sure how true that is. I noticed that my first would move around a lot in the evening when I wanted to go to bed. Then when he was born, he was on a reversed schedule. He slept all day and was up all night. I'm really not certain if this is related though.
  • In my experience an active baby in the womb = an active baby in life. But I only have 1 baby so who knows lol.

  • My first was active in and out, my second was active in but not out, my third was active in and somewhat active out. All walked at 10m
  • My first was really active right from the start and he has been a human tornado ever since.  This baby is a little calmer so I guess I'll see how indicative it is of future behavior.
  • Definitely true for me! My little guy was super wiggly in the womb and has continued to be really active ever since. Baby #2 seems to be a little calmer in the womb, so I hope this carries through after birth. I'm not sure I can keep up with 2 like my first!
  • If so then I'm in trouble lol every ultrasound we have had the baby has been super active lol.. It's only been 3.. Two being emergency.. But it would be just my luck that the baby is in a ball and doesn't want to move on Friday morning when I go for my anatomy scan lol
  • My two boys now that they are older (5 and 3) are the opposite of what they were in the womb. My active one is now more chill and would rather build stuff. My chill one is super active non-stop all day sports one. So, didn't work for me.
  • DD2 was active in scans and all day kicking. She only naps once a day since she was tiny. Very rare for a baby to br as awake as she has always been. For her this was accurate.

DS1 active inside when he came out he slept for 2 m almost non stop. He walked late but now he is active. Not a builder not a sports kid. He is a destroyer. This one is pretty active himself. ...so we will just wait and see.
  • My OB always comments on what a "happy baby" I have because it's always wiggling away from the doppler. I hope she's right, lol.

  • My 1st was incredibly active on the inside and has always been on the outside too. She is a cat napper. If she's asleep for 15 - 20 minutes she's wired for the next few hours.

  • This was true for my first. Also, being a night owl!! She would move like crazy at night. And I know, I've heard that during the day the movement makes them sleep and when you settle they are awake. But, both this baby and my daughter were active pretty much all day and all night!! My daughter is a night owl and I have a feeling this one will be, too. I told my SO that apparently I breed active children. Haha
  • It was true for me with my first one.  Kicked all of the time, moved during all scans, doctor joked he would be an active child and she was right.  He was an active baby and is a little tornado now as a toddler.  He only stops moving when asleep.  This second baby so far seems pretty active too, but rather early to tell.

Same here. Totally opposite for me. My oldest (daughter) was a wild woman in the womb. She is 13yrs old now and very laid back. My second (son) was pretty calm in the womb. Now, at almost 12yrs old, VERY active... And with severe ADHD.
I'm 5mos now, and this baby (boy) is in the middle. Some days he's all over the place, others, he's pretty calm.
It's hard telling though. It's been almost 12 years since I've done this pregnancy thing. lol

    Good luck ladies!
