April 2014 Moms

Do you still like your stroller after 1 year of use?

Hi All,

I'm a FTM, popping over from the September board to get recommendations for a stroller/car seat recommendations. I figured it would be more helpful to ask people who have actually used their stroller for a year, rather than most of the women on my board, who have only test drove them in the store/at home. I figured all you April 2014 mommies now have a year of experience with your stroller and can actually comment on it!

Which stroller do you have?

Would you recommend it?

What do you like about it? Dislike about it?

Thanks!!

  • Congrats! I'm not sure how much help I'll be but we got one stroller for free and a used one for $30 and both have worked fine. We never really use the stroller that much- only for walks. For running errands/out and about we primarily used our Ergo or Mai Tai wrap; and now that she's older we use the Ergo, shopping card or umbrella stroller. I just hate lugging the stroller around if I don't need to.

  • We have a Chicco Travel System one (granted this was bought for my 1st born in '08) and I don't have any complaints. For 7 years, it's held up well and nothing has broken. I also have a Graco DuoGlider Double Stroller and unless they've changed in design, I friggen hate Graco buckles. They drive me bsc especially because my kids are the type that hate to be buckled in to anything and although they look small still, a 1 year old can put up one hell of a fight! Best of luck ;)

  • We have the Britax travel system and we love it! It works great for all of the airplane travel we have done. It folds easily, and it has 3 wheels vs 4 which I think is easier to maneuver. The car seat portion is comfy too. Very happy

  • I have the baby jogger Versa. I loved it when we bought it and still like it now, but there are more convenient strollers on the market now. This one is kinda heavy.
If I had to do it over, I would go with the graco click connect. I've checked them out in the store and they do everything mine does but they're better priced. Good luck and congrats!

We have the baby trend jogger and I absolutely love it. It came with the car seat that clicks right in. Today I took LO in the stroller for a 5km run and did another 2km walk with it doing errands around town. The front wheel locks in place for running, or you can unlock it to have it swivel. The storage compartment underneath holds quite a bit; I often walk for groceries.

We picked this stroller because we do a lot of walking on trails and such, and it's been perfect for that. It was great in the snow this winter too!

    Congrats on your pregnancy!

ETA The only downside to this stroller is that it's still pretty big when folded up. It takes up most of the trunk space in our SUV. When we went camping, DH strapped it to the camper so we could take it with us.
  • We have a cheapy lightweight from Walmart. It's called the cloud and we paid like $50 for it. We had a baby trend travel system but the canopy never blocked the sun enough (LO is petite). This one works great for us.

    And congrats!

We got a City Mini and loved it until we had #2- we should have gone for the City Select because you have the option to add a second seat (stadium seating style). It hasn't been much of an issue because if LO1 wanted to ride I'd wear LO2, and by the time LO2 got too big to wear all over the place LO1 is fine walking.

We also got a BOB which we still love and use for runs.

Car seats also still love: Chicco KeyFit 30 for infant and Recaros for convertible. Our nearly 4yo will fit in the Recaro for years to come, and it fits easily even in our TSX (built on a civic frame) with DH who is 6'3".

  • I used a snap and go with my graco car seat when dd was little (0-5 months). I got it used for $20. Since that time I've used either our BOB jogging stroller (also got used for free) for running or long trips, or an umbrella stroller for everyday. It's worked for us. I haven't bought an expencive everyday stroller for either kid, and I'm glad I didn't.

  • Britax B- Ready system over here too.i love it. So easy to use and it'll be perfect to add baby #2 when the time comes too. Only "bad" thing is that it's pretty wide so I go shopping it's hard to manuver around the aisles.

We bought a massive jogging stroller that went along with our carrier.

No.  It takes up much too much precious space.  We just got an umbrella stroller and it's great.
  • Umbrella stroller is key for airports, quick errands and doctors appointments. I have a jogging stroller for trail walking and uneven terrain that i got cheap off of craigslist. Actually even the umbrella stroller was $5 on craigslist! We also have a graco click connect that we got for our shower and it's also nice for grocery shopping small loads or easy neighborhood walks.

  • We have a Chicco travel system I do like it no complaints. However I am pregnant with number 2 and need a double I regret not getting something that would convert to a double (I've heard great things about the city select) my cousin just gave us her double BOB and I love it, really smooth ride!
  • We have the Britax travel system too, and it's been awesome!

Congrats on the baby! Hope the end of your pregnancy goes well!
  • Britax B-Agile travel system here too! Love it! We live in the city and travel quite a bit and the way it moves is super swift. I highly recommend it. The stroller is 18 lbs which is important when traveling most airlines as you can hate check under 20 lbs. Also the canopy has great coverage so my LO is mostly out of the sun, but can still see.

Didn't think much about another baby, so I'm no help there. Good luck :)
