When I was pregnant with my daughter, I just felt girl from day 1. With this one, I don't feel any way at all so I knew it wasn't a girl. I guess because it's not! Lol I'm so excited!!!

  • How did you get the blood test done? Did they suggest it to you? Or did you ask? I am not a fan of getting my blood drawn, but I am 12 weeks today and I don't wanna wait to find out any longer. I don't have a "feeling", but I know I will be happy whatever gender it is.
  • Woohoo! Congratulations !!!!!

  • CONGRATS on your baby boy!!!

I have never even heard getting the results of the gender through bloodwork... How do you go about doing that? Does it cost any money? Do you have to get referred to a specialist? I am definitely NOT a fan of needles, I am terrified of them but I know that I have to get blood work done regularly and finding out the gender sounds so exciting! :)

  • Congrats!!! I'm with you, more worried about the genetic results of the tests since I'm almost 40, BUT a very happy by product will be getting to know whether or not it's a girl or boy and until July 6th just going to hope and pray all is well! It's so crazy you wait with bated breath for the first doctor appointment and every day seems to last FOREVER. Since that visit I've been counting down for this one! Hopefully after that I can chill out a little bit!
  • Yay for good genes! The boy is just a bonus of course :D

Aw CONGRATS!!! I also had the genetic testing done, they said it will take a max of 14 business days. So anxious to get those results! So great to see everything came back as you had hoped!
  • Its a newer test. They didn't have it with my last pregnancy and we were at the specialist every month, nothing major. My OB just offered it at my last appt. I didn't even know it existed. He said it's a blood test to screen for major abnormalities like Down's syndrome and a few others with 100% accuracy vs the scans at 92%. They can also tell the gender with this test. My ins covered most of it. I haven't got a final bill yet but it's been less than $100 total so far. I am going to talk to the drs office about it and see what they say in a few weeks. We still go for the NT scan of the neck to check for other abnormalities and they check the heart for defects. But the major ones they screened for in the blood are negative. Yay!!! Lots of good news today.

Congrats! Just found out today that baby #3 is also going to be my third boy. Took about two wks to find out. Not completely shocked. My gut said boy and has been right every time. I will be surrounded by boys. I guess the only estrogen in this house will be me.
  • I definitely want to ask my doctor or the hospital about this! I had no idea you could figure out the gender through bloodwork earlier than The ultrasound that comes that 20+ weeks. Pretty much once I get to the three month mark that's the first thing I want to know, is the gender. I remember having to wait until the ultrasound at 20+ weeks and it felt like forever, I used to cry about it taking to long.

Thank you! I met my deductible from just this pregnancy alone already so that worked perfectly! The anatomy scans are around 20 weeks so it's not too long away anyway.

I had the stepwise done and it said online on the quest site thay it has a high false positive. I have a hard time believing anything but the birth will be 100% accurate. My midwife told me the same but my original ob said 99%.... everyone is always telling you something different makes you wonder if anyone even knows what is going on.

    How far along are you?!
  • I'm just over 11 weeks.

99% is better than 92% we are still going for the NT scan this week and the anatomy scan in a few more weeks. So far so good and I like that. Puts my mind at ease.
