OB wants to see me tomorrow-now stressed **Update**

So I emailed my OB's nurse last week because I was having some abdomen pains around my left ovary and I just wanted to confirm it's probably a cyst and didn't need any medical attention-she confirmed that.  I ended up emailing again because I've had a dull ache with an occasional throbbing for the past 24 hours on the left side again, and now they want to see me tomorrow to rule out an ectopic pregnancy.

I'm trying not to stress about it because I feel like an ectopic tubal pregnancy doesn't cause an issue until it does and when it does it's not a dull ache with occasional throbbing it's pretty severe pain. I also don't think it's a miscarriage because from what I understand that is more like period cramps (I've had a missed miscarriage in the past and took medicine to resolve it, so I'm not fully sure how a non-missed miscarriage would feel).

Really hoping it's just a massive cyst that's twisting my ovary on occasion vs. an ectopic pregnancy.

I'm normally really good about not focusing on the possible negatives and obsessing over the negatives, but having a hard time right now!

**Update**  Had my appointment and the baby is great!  I do have a massive cyst on my left ovary which stinks, but glad it's that and not anything else.  Just playing the wait and see game with the cyst since there is nothing they can really do for it.  Thank you for all your kind thoughts, advice, and encouragement!

  • From what I understand, ectopic symptoms are usually very sudden and severe. I wouldn't worry too much - I'm sure it's just routine.

Thanks that's what logically I feel like it is.  I just need to relax and not focus on that nagging "what if" part of my brain.  Maybe some retail therapy with my toddler?? lol.  At a minimum chasing him around a store will keep my mind off things.

  • I would try to think positively. Tomorrow you'll have a quick ultrasound and they'll prove it's not ectopic. Then you can stop worrying! Best wishes that everything turns out ok.

  • Good luck! If it's dull pain I wouldn't be too worried. Could be nothing at all. Ts&Ps
  • I had an ectopic pregnancy that resulted in my tube rupturing and having to have it removed in February 2011. I started "miscarrying" around 5w5d but a few days before then I started having stomach pain/cramping. I honestly felt like I needed to go to the bathroom and couldn't. It was almost like gas pains.... That rocked on until almost "7 weeks" pregnant when my tube ruptured. (Bled for 11 days, felt a pop and pain was gone. that was apparently the tube rupturing) The pain would come and go and sometimes I would have to stop walking and bend over.... When my appendix was inflamed (3 years later) I had the exact same pain. I actually thought I was pregnant again and it was ectopic, it was crazy. Ended up being my appendix and had to have it removed.... I guess that's the feeling of something being swollen in your body is... Kind of weird. Anyways, I know everyone is different and has fm different symptoms, but those were mine. I hope it has helped in a good way!

I'm so sorry for your losses. Thank you for sharing your symptoms with me and what it was really like. It actually makes me feel less worried about tomorrow. I will post an update after my appointment.
