Nipple question

So I'm strictly breastfeeding and I do need to pump when I go out and I'm starting to pump more bc my mom is coming to visit and Im sure she would like to feed her some. Anyway my dd is 1m old and her nipple for the bottle is the calma and I don't like it. She ends up wearing more then she's eating, so question is what kind of nipple should I use to replace it? Just a regular newborn nipple I'm assuming but I wanted to get some opinions . Tia!!!!

I don't have a lot of experience (ftm), but my ds really does well with dr. Bronners bottles and nipples. We tried a whole bunch of different types and have problems with milk ending up everywhere with all of the others. This one controls the flow a lot better.
  • We are having great luck with munchkin latch bottles. They are supposed to be like the mothers nipple. Dr Browns he slobbered all over. Even a relative said he was so neat when using the latch bottle. Good luck!

  • Thanks ladies I'm going to try them see which one works best. :).
  • We also love the munchkin latch bottles :)
It seems like small nipples will make a mess with our daughter. She is fine with bigger round ones similar to a breast
  • My LO does great with dr Browns. Had an awful time with advent. Every baby is different.
  • Like others have said every baby is different, so I would only get 1 type of bottle/nipple at a time until you find one baby will do well with. Personally my LO likes Nuk. We also tried the Latch bottles and he hated them.

I agree with the PP's about trying Dr. Brown's bottles- they saved us. We tried playtex, Avent and a couple of other brands I can't remember, and weren't happy with them. Also there's a coupon at Babies R Us that you get a free Dr. Brown's 4th of July colored bottle with any $10 purchase- so you can try the bottle free if you have other purchases (i.e. diapers) to make there.
  • I had the same problem but the dr. Brown bottles work a lot better than any other ones I've tried

My daughter did the best with the breast flow bottles (I had to order on Amazon). That was what the lactation specialist recommended and it worked the best for her having to go from bottle to boob. No matter what bottle you get make sure it is a slow flow one cause that might be the problem with making a mess.

Yikes, I meant dr. Browns bottles - sleep deprivation
  • If baby is going back to breast it's only recommended that you use slow flow nips so which ever bottle works best make sure you only get a slow flow nipple.
