just wanted to know if you will be sanatizing your bottles before use? And how you are choosing to do so...dishwasher, boiling them ext.

We are using the Medela microwave sterilzing bags. Only 3 minutes to sterilize. I do need to figure out the dishwasher though. Is it accurate that we should sterilize after every use?

Dishwasher. I was planning on using the medela sterilize bags once a week on the bottles and pump parts.

I did the stove for the first set then have been using the dishwasher. I also bought the medala sanitizer wipes for quick clean since I only pump this has been super helpful.

I read clean after every use and sterilize once a day

Yes. I have the Tommee Tippee microwave sterilizer. It works well. Easy and quick. Held up so well for DS1 that I'm using it again for DS2.

I plan on boiling before the first use and then using the dishwasher. Last time, I would boil every few days.

I have the munchkin sterilizer. Spent 2 hours sterilizing everything yesterday! Boiled all the pacifiers though. For the dishwasher...do you use detergent on the sanitize cycle?

I boiled bottles before first use but it was because I didn't want to wait until the dishwasher was filled... But in general we use the dishwasher or Medela bags.

This might be a stupid question, but do you put the pump tubing inside the medela bags as well?

For bottles NO! There is no reason to sterilize.

I think I boiled them once then didn't do anything... But that was almost 4 years ago... I haven't set up my electric pump yet so I have no clue!

You shouldn't have to clean the tubing at all. It's just the part that air pressure goes through and no breastmilk will ever touch it. Is that what you're talking about? @Zeuskay01

@Zeuskay01 there is a great video on YouTube about medela pumps I watched it a bunch to make sure I understood

@amabarne ohh ok ! Idk why I thought the milk runs through the tubes....but now that I think about it, it makes sense.

@kcave21 I'll have to look the video up! I'm truly clueless when it comes to pumping lol
