Sac and yolk sac but no baby seen

I'm 6 weeks 3 days and had a transvaginal ultrasound and the doctor had a hard time finding the sac. She found a sac and yolk sac only. She said I maybe a few days off. I used an ovaultor kit. Had anyone had this experience? My hcg is at 12,500 and tomorrow they are taking more blood to test. Waiting to hear from radiology to do another ultasound next week. Nervous and hoping for a baby in there!

FX for you!! My advice, don't google. Trust your doc to keep you informed. I haven't googled but it always brings up the worst so it is a bad idea. I'm thinking about you!

  • It's likely you were a few days off. Try to keep your mind off of it until they can get a better picture next week.

  • You aren't alone! I had this same experience yesterday. I was 5 weeks 5 days. There are two gestational sacs, each with a yolk sac, but no fetal pole or heartbeat found. My hcg is also only up to the 7200s. The doctor assures me that they don't always see a fetal pole this early, but I'm very nervous to wait for next week's repeat scan. Good luck to you! Let's hope we both have reassuring results next week!

  • Hey I had the same I was 6+0 when I went for a scan and they could only see a sac and a yolk sac- i think it's really too early to tell... Try not to worry too much x I have my next ultrasound on Wednesday next week when I'll be 8 weeks (although I'm sure I'm measuring less!)- fingers crossed :)
  • FX for you. Agree with PP, stay away from Dr.Google. Days a can off for a few reasons. Try to keep yourself busy.
  • Thank you ladies. I had a miscarriage 13 years ago and have a 9 year old son. We are very hopeful we will see a sweet baby! More hcg testing tomorrow.
  • Don't worry, it's still really early. I just had my first u/s today which was actually for a follow up on a cyst. I'm probably about 6 weeks too, and the u/s tech warned me before she even started that there was only a very slim chance she would be able to see anything. She found the gestational sac, but said it was really early to see baby. My doctor usually doesn't do the first u/s until 8 weeks for just this reason, so I'll be going back in 2 weeks for my first prenatal appointment.
