Hair loss

Im 10 weeks pp and I'm starting to lose my hair. It takes me 5 minutes to get hair off my hands, counter, floor and off my body before I leave the bathroom after a shower and then I keep finding hair all over my clothes and my bed and pillows are covered! Has anybody else went through this! Any tips on how to stop it?

Re: Hair loss

  • When you're pregnant, your hair goes into a rest phase and stops falling out. This happens normally but lasts much longer during pregnancy. Sometime after your baby is here this hair that normally would have fallen out comes out basically all at once. I'm pretty sure there is no way to stop it as its normal but it should stop on its own once it has reregulated.

  • Mine has started to do the same thing, so you aren't alone. Showering is fun /:, it's everywhere. My hair did the opposite of most people's and stopped growing at all when I was pregnant. I also don't have a thyroid and that could have been why - BUT I know how you feel at least! I don't think we can do anything to stop it. I think it's just another thing our bodies have to go through /:
  • It's absolutely awful!

It's terrible, but definitely a part of the post pregnancy stuff we deal with. I lose enough in the shower that it covers the drain. And then any time I put my hands in my hair I can pull small handfuls of loose hair out. I had very thick hair before getting pregnant but I still feel like I will end up bald eventually.

@chelscole13 Was going to post the same thing because I shed like an animal nowadays. It's crazy. If my hair wasn't so thick, I'd be afraid of going bald. I hate it!
  • Are you still taking prenatal vitamins? I swear, my hair still hasn't started shedding because I'm still taking my prenatal vitamins.
  • @KD32412 no I'm on regular vitamins now
  • My hair is so thin since I gave birth. I keep my hair pretty long and it looked so bad I had to cut about 5 inches off. But now I'm getting baby hair growing in so hopefully it fills back in! Yay fourth trimester lol
  • It's normal. Mine started falling out at 11 weeks pp. I'm now 13 weeks pp and it is still going strong lol. My hair fell out for a year after my first was born. My hair got so thin that I cut 12 inches off. I cut mine short before my second was born, so it doesn't look as noticeable. Plus my hair is super curly, so it doesn't look as thin. Unless I style it. Nothing will stop it, except time. It's annoying but totally normal.
  • @KD32412 Ugh...sometimes I do forget to take them. But even so, I take them almost every day and my hair is still shedding.
  • I've got curly, frizzy hair, and instead of it falling out, it's decided to just die on me! It feels like straw, it's so damaged. I'm almost positive this is something to do with the lack of conditioning time I get nowadays :))
