What a weekend!

Long version: So Friday I learned I was pregnant. Saturday my husband had to go to the ER because his lungs were swollen from being sick and he couldn't breath (he's fine now, they gave him shots and now he's on steroids and antibiotics). Today I went somewhere with my GPS and it took me down a back road. Normally that wouldn't be bad, but as I was going down the road it suddenly starts pouring rain and flash flooding. I come to a place where the water is way too deep to cross, no biggie right? Wrong, I turned around and went back the other way only to find the road behind me had suddenly become consumed with water as well. I ended up being stuck in this random lot praying the water didn't get too high while my husband, sick as he is, borrowed his uncles truck to come get me. The police had come and barricaded the roads so they almost didn't let them by, but thankfully the rain let up and it receded just enough they drove quickly through and got me out! The water was so high it was splashing up on the hood of the truck as we went back through. I live in Texas, so I am used to drought, not all this new rain and flooding. It was so scary! But at least Friday was great! Lol

Short version: Positive test, Husband in ER, Stuck near a flooding river. LONG WEEKEND!!!

Anyone else have a weird weekend?

Re: What a weekend!

  • Wow. I thought I had a long weekend just because I have to wait until tomorrow to call my doctor for my first appointment (I also found out Friday) but that takes the cake. I am sorry all of that happened after such great news.  We'll just say all the bad things happened all together and you got it all over with.

Yeah it definitely felt movie-esque for a minute there. I was just happy it was only me in the car!

My husband tells me everything happens in three's, we've already had ours, I think we're in for a reprieve! Lol. I am too excited to make our first appointment too :)

Oh no! Is that for sure now? I heard it still could go a different way and I hope so! What part of Texas? We're San Antonio area, so I am hoping it won't be terrible with the storm, we used to live in Corpus Christi so all those gulf storms were a little scary!

  • I was on a family trip with lots of my husband's extended family. It was fun but I felt a little conspicuous turning down drinks, squeezing in naps, and just not feeling my best. Definitely nothing like your harrowing experience!!
  • I spent Sunday with my ILs, so yes, it was weird. My MIL asks way too many way too personal questions.

  • Dang, that is intense! Forces of nature are one of my biggest fears. Glad you're okay.
  • I hope the bad weather isn't too bad, we are going to be driving through east Texas this weekend :(

  • Spent a whole day slugging boxes up from the basement (we're preparing for a move). I made hubby carry the heavy ones, but it was still exhausting.

Sunday, went to my inlaws for the afternoon where I felt like I was being judged for sitting around and letting someone else chase my toddler around for a change. (my MIL likes to tell me every chance she gets how easy all her pregnancies were and how she did everything while pregnant that she did before to include lifting heavy things, yard work, etc.
    - Oh and all her babies just fell out. Barely a push. Meanwhile I labored for 24 hours with baby #1, had complications, and ended up with a csection).
